Hey,Granny,,,
It’s gunna take a lotta straw/etc. just to try to
cover the coastline,,,
The last I heard the spill is about 100 miles X 40 miles,,,
I guess now we’ll have an early hurricane or two...
Start the telethon, “Bales for BP!” Brother can you spare a bale?
THey pointed out that straw wasn’t ready yet — too early in the season. They chose their materials depending on what is readily available right now.
Hay, that’s a great idea.
Heyeah!
damn, granny had another unworkable idea...:O). My first cruise to Alaska was 2 years after the Valdez and the inside passage was clean of any oils...the ports of call had gasoline in the water but not any more than any other port....Coronado bay in California had more gas floating on the water than Alaska....nature does clean up the mess..
Thats true, straw come in when the grains are harvested. what is left in the field in the fall is straw........I didn’t think of that......thanks for the correction
I knew you knew that — it’s just early. I need coffee!
All kinds of hair has been used since Exxon Valdez. Some barber shops around the country save the hair for oil clean up. Oil will (bond) stick to any small item with plenty of surface area, and stay there. Like they said in the video, you don’t want that to be the beach or coastal area.
My guess is that when they figure out how Iowa farmers can benefit from a hay subsidy, this will move forward.
Nothing. I was merely observing that lots of production has been tested in the R&D lab only to find out that duplicating the process on a mass production scale presents new unforseen problems.
probably gunna need a way longer spatula...
I was thinking straw too. We have lots of that here in NJ that my horses don’t eat. Even if hay were used my horses are eating more & more grass each day. It looked like a good idea & I was impressed. Seems simple enough. I watched the video & it looked like a good idea if they were being honest. Hmm I don’t like to have to wonder if everything I see now if people aren’t scamming.
Hey you work them out as you go! That is how things get done!
I agree. That is how things get done. But someone has to be around to keep over-enthusism on course.
Like Nancy Pelosi or Harry Reid?????
Unless it’s HUGELY complicated and expensive, most government types aren’t interested! I feel they’re little motivated to SOLVE any problem... just throw OPM at it!!! Sadly that’s my take! SOOOO... this appears to be MUCH TOO simple, inexpensive and efficient for ANY GOVERNMENT agency to approve!
Unless (selected) big fat cats can make HUGE SUMS government bureaucrats and politicians don’t have no use for it! IMHO, If folks band together and do it on their own, they’ll be arrested by the “Eco-police” for some trumped up violation... I’m still not sure this spill was an accident!!!
I hate to say it but the Government is getting in the way in the Gulf clean up! Last night on Gretta the BP President said most of the oil is being contained at the leak! However I do believe these new Engineers have a problem thinking on their feet! If these guys would have been involved with Apollo 13 our guys would have perished in space. These new engineers have a problem trying to come up with a remedy on the leaks because they don’t think fast and lack common sense! Being college smart is not everything. I believe that if they had older engineers this problem would have been fixed in a couple of days!!! I think they need to try putting a sleeve over the leak and welding it in place with their robot subs then install a known working blow back valve and shut off the oil!!! I don’t know why they could not install that huge box and install the pipes on it then pump heat into the pipe to thaw the ice crystals!!
