Wasn’t Mayberry in NC?

“Mayberry” was set in the central part of the state. Culturally, that is a whole different state from Eastern North Carolina, which is where I’m from. Nowadays, it’s all Yankees and California hippies—Obamaland. I live here because I teach at one of the big universities, but would rather be home. There’s no work for anyone there, though, and never has been.
