Chamberlain was actually very remorseful after the war started and realized he had been duped. Churchill wanted to keep him in the cabinet because he still had a lot of influence; however, he was diagnosed with cancer and died by the end of 1940.

Yes. He said something about vigorously prosecuting the war as he did for the peace.
