Why quote the World Speed Sailing Record Council's dismissal of her trip for lack of above the equator distance, when it won't acknowledge her for being under 18 anyway? And why not acknowledge other groups that do accept her record? After all, she went arounf the Horn when the 17 year old guy went through the canal - which do you think is harder? BBC News is being just being nasty. This is a tremendous triumph for her. Good for you, Jessica!

(When you find a turtle on top of a fence post, you can be damn sure it didn't get there on it's own.)

She had electronic backup for security; but it is still a phenomenal achievementwhich will probably receive a small paragraph or two at most on the back of the sport sections . . .
Most of the spectator-sportsmen of today can not even maneuver a row boat on a placid lake.

I have never followed her story but tonight I read a little bit of her blog. One line jumped out at me while she was describing bad weather. “....I’m just going to have to toughen up some more and deal with it.”
I love her grit.

A 34 foot yacht is like a small mansion floating on water, can make 7 months at sea certainly bearable. Couldn’t be happier for her and her accomplishments. I see she has a book contract already, hopefully a movie too.
