My 83 year old Mom called me this Morning to tell me that Exile on Main Street had been digitally remastered and that there were six new tracks on it.
She knows I love the Stones and I would be interested.
Yes you read that right. My 83-year-old MOM.
And she LOOKS BETTER than Keith! hahahahaha
Rolling Stones?
The greatest rock band that ever was....IMO
Next to the Beatles.
Great album, but I will never forgive them for recording “When the Whip Comes Down,” “C—ksu—er Blues,” “Emotional Rescue,” or every album since “Tattoo You.”
I always draw the distinction that rock includes the lifestyle that The Rolling Stones embodied far more than The Beatles. As far as moving music and recording forward The Beatles win, but The Rolling Stones go for the gut more IMO. And that is more important than skill or really anything.
Exile on Main Street. What a HUGE disappointment. I've been eagerly awaiting this re-release since it was first announced, and my worst fears are realized. With the highly overrated Don Was at the helm I knew this would happen. It is so hyper-compressed and limited it sounds like holy CRAP! A full 8dB louder than the original CD release, vocals are pushed back in the mix, horn parts are barely audible, all of the traits of an over-mastered album.
Agreed. IMHO, they haven’t had a decent song in decades. “Exile” is a fantastic album (as was “Sticky Fingers”), but aside from “Start Me Up”, what the hell have these guys done since that merits any attention from a true rocker?
Zilch.
The Beatles are the most over rated band in human history. I don't even rate them in the top 5 of all time.

Take your meds.....
Who is Keith Richards taxidermist?
Yep, and you can point it all to when Ron Wood replaced Mick Taylor.
Ha ha ha!
Whoever he is, he should be SUED!
Yes. They HAVE done some unforgivable things.
But you never know what they get every time they get all their blood replaced.
Who knows. Maybe they got a batch of “Abby Normal’s” blood, or something.
I haven’t given it a listen yet, but that was kind of what I was worried about seeing Don Was doing it. Should have gotten Rick Rubin, Brendan O’Brien or T Bone Burnett to really get it right.
Looks like losing Jimmy Miller as producer hurt far more than adding Ronnie Wood. I would like to see them paired up with a strong producer again. I have already mentioned Rick Rubin in this thread and will volunteer him again. When Shine a Light came out someone asked Keith Richards if he would get Jack White to produce a new Stones album, I think that would be a fantastic idea too.
Guess it’s kind of interesting that the album that was made in Southern France is being released there, in Cannes.
I’m a Stones fan but I always thought Exile was overrated.
The early years with Brian Jones was my favorite era. Maybe that’s why I never particularly liked Exile — Brian was gone.
Yeah, that could do it. Exile and Sticky Fingers are my two favorites both after he left.
Personally I prefer Sticky Fingers to Exile. It has a cleaner sound and there is a sense of economy. Don’t get me wrong there are some great songs on Exile. But it nothing that grabs me like Can’t you Here Me Knocking.
