I’ve stopped buying many of my favorite mystery novel writer’s books: too much gratuitous sex and political lecturing that has NOTHING to do with mystery/murder plots.
If I wanted to read about ripping bodices and throbbing male organs I would buy romance novels - which I never do.
I agree about mystery novels.
I enjoy the Kay Scarpetta character but they’re laden with her affairs and her FBI agent niece’s homosexuality, which I really don’t like reading about in a damn mystery novel!
There’s also a good detective series starring a character named Alex Delwaare, but his partner is a homosexual, and again...I am an old-fashioned sort that doesn’t like book whose protagonists are homosexuals.
