Thanks for the ping.
Not so much cloud as sync to own computer. Why fiddle with syncing what I want to my 64gb iPad when there’s an always on path to my 1TB PC at home? Let people make their own “cloud”.
“Its DRM free”
iTunes is DRM free now too, just got to choose to save it as such from within iTunes.
Third party solutions tend to be a lot nicer. I’ve got an iPod Shuffle and with Winamp, managing it works pretty much exactly like managing a normal playlist. No synching, the only waiting involved is the time it actually takes to copy files.
For real?
Ha!

Qx ping.
Got ya, but Amazon is still cheaper, I’m sticking with them.
Well, the stupidest thing about iTunes is it makes you keep all your music backed up on your hard drive. That is the worst place to have to keep your music backed up.
It’s the only place if most of the collection comes from personally owned CDs. I can’t go to Apple and say “I bought these 400 CDs somewhere else; will you please archive them?” Copyright law would oblige them to store a unique copy of 200GB to do so (a la a recent court decision regarding DVRs).
That’s not true at all. Why wouldn’t those rules have applied to Lala, Simplify, etc. besides, what difference does it make if it was on a external hard drive or not? And Google is doing a cloud service. Apple may very well be set to. They will lose badly, if they don’t.
Well have to give that a look see then, recently if I need to put music on my phone too I just make the playlist manually in notepad, but if winamp’s manager works then that might just be a little bit easier ;)
You have much to learn about DCMA, copyright law, and digital distribution technology.
But then again perhaps you intend to retain your sanity.
I know, according to the RIAA, I can only legally play a CD I own in my car- if there are other in the car and I play it, I am breaking the law. I was talking about the real world.
I am talking about the real world.
Apple can’t have iTunes automatically say “oh, you just ripped a copy of this CD and want to use it on your iPad, so we’ll just stream you our copy whenever you want.” they’d have to copy the whole cd from you and keep a copy just for you. Find the recent supreme court case regarding use of dvrs.
I’m fried. Good night.
