I’ve got about 100 square feet of square foot gardening beds. They are raised 18 inches high, so I don’t have to stoop, with an edge I can sit on. This will be our fourth summer. They are wonderful. My married kids have gotten inspired, and four of the six have built their own.

I’m hoping to raise my beds eventually. For the moment my “garden beds” are 4 sheets of landscape fabric on top of stomped-down weeds. Hopefully after a couple of weeks they’ll have smothered the weeds enough, then I’ll cut slits to plant seeds through.

It’s kind of “the lazy person’s square-foot garden” but in this case it’s necessary. I have some mobility problems, there’s no way I could even get a tiller out to my garden much less run it. But this is a start.

Mine are not that tall, although I could easily add some layers if I could persuade my husband to do it! LOL. This project has gotten much more elaborate as we have gone on, so I have to be careful what I ask him to do.

Do you have pictures? I’d love to see your layout and hear about what you are growing and what has been successful and what has been disappointing. This will be my first year.
