I have to say that I love this site, have been a member since 1998 and donate monthly.

But I am completely appalled by the outrageous and over-the-top gay bashing that I consistently see here. Opinions about gay marriage as public policy, and the gay political agenda, are one thing — but the name-calling and outright hostility against gay people is frankly, disgusting and outrageous.

Do we really need to have people throwing around words like “homo” and “faggot” and “fudgepacker” and “petri-dish” here? Do we really need to have gay-bashing morons tarring this site with every liberal stereotype of conservatives as being motivated by ignorance, hate and bigotry?

Personally, I wish Jim Robinson and the moderators would put a stop to it.

It makes me embarrassed to refer people to this site who would otherwise find much value in the articles and ideas presented here. And that’s too bad, because we are in a battle for the survival of this country as the land of the free and the home of the brave, and we don’t advance the cause by allowing this sort of mindless mean-spiritedness to be tolerated here.

Go ahead and argue with me if you want to. Like I care. Right is right, and there is just no excuse for this kind of uncivil and juvenile behavior.

I realized [Free Republic] was not some ultra liberal group

Of course not; liberals, especially the "ultra" kind don't believe in either concept.

You don't realize that such terms are used as a revolt against political correctness?

I hope the writer of this article comes back to read this and tries to explain it away.

Here is a list of what many doctors refer to as “Lavender” diseases. They occur with extraordinary frequency among male homosexuals who engage in anal intercourse.

Anal Cancer

Chlamydia trachomatis

Cryptosporidium

Giardia lamblia

Herpes simplex virus

Human immunodeficiency virus

Human papilloma virus

Isospora belli

Microsporidia

Gonorrhea

Viral hepatitis types B & C

Syphilis

Exactly. We take delight in violating liberal speech codes.

Homosexuality is a deviant behavior. I agree some of the posts here are probably hurtful, but I think homosexuality itself is “frankly, disgusting and outrageous.”

We should probably use more civil language when describing homosexuals, but the examples you provided are founded in fact:

homo - that’s what they are, homosexual.
faggot - OK, maybe this one’s a bit derogatory.
fudgepacker - that’s what they do.
petri-dish - that’s what they become when they fudge pack.

So why exactly is it ignorant or bigoted to accurately describe a deviant behavior that some people want to normalize? After all, the homosexuals don’t hesitate to call us “gay-bashing morons.”

There are those who would characterize God's smiting of Sodom and Gomorrah as hostile. As for me, it was righteous justice from the Lord.

Can we simply go back to calling them queers without offending your delicate sensibilities? And since when is it outrageous to call a homosexual a homo?

I'd rather argue with you than against you, since you have the Right of it.

You can add the 'guilty/not guilty' posts to that, as well. As was explained so succinctly to Mike, the computer, in The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress: "...there are two classes of jokes: 'funny once', and 'funny always'."

Maceman: “...worst kind of inhumane name-calling.”

Homo? Worst kind of inhumane name-calling? Seriously?

Is there something about homosexuality that makes the author overuse commas?

Yes. It's because he can't have periods.

Yes, Maceman, please tell us what terms we can use to describe homosexuals? I’m sure you’ll consider sodomites over the top. Perhaps we should call them the “those who must not be named?” Would that be OK?

What do you think? Should we tone it down?

“Hi, my name is Bryan and I’m a Missionary Positioner. My wife is a moaner and screamer.”

For all of you gays, do you not see how pathetic your proclamations are? Why would you want to go through life identifying yourself publicly by the kind of sex you have?

“Hi, my name is Joe and I stick my penis into other men’s rectums.”

I don’t need to know that and I don’t want to know that. For you to IMPOSE your sexual proclivities into my sphere of knowledge is NOT YOUR RIGHT!

If you think Maceman’s right, how about answering some of the questions we’ve posed to him. What term are we permitted to use to describe those who have unnatural sex?

You're an adult aren't you? You can make up your own mind about what's right and what's wrong. Unless you can't function without going to an authority figure for guidance.

I'll say this though; Maceman didn't suggest that the pejoratives alone were what bothered him.

What God does is God's prerogative.

As for those of us living here in the material plane, we ought to mind our manners -- especially those of us who aspire to being civilized. And that goes double for those of us who aspire to awaken our fellow citizens in the fight to restore political liberty to our beloved country.

Or maybe instead we should just stone all the faggots to death like our brothers in the Muslim world do. They use the same argument as you do.
