WASHINGTON — The number of Americans receiving food stamps in March topped 40 million for the first time as the jobless rate hovered near a 26-year high.

Recipients of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program subsidies for food purchases totaled 40.2 million, up 21 percent from a year earlier and 1.2 percent more than in February, the Department of Agriculture said yesterday in a statement on its website. The number of recipients has set records for 16 straight months.

I believe the income guidelines are fairly generous, I was curious and found out that we qualify. We actually qualify for several assistance programs, but as a matter of principle, don't take them. Yes, we struggle (my husband works 80 - 90 hours per weeks at 3 jobs) but we don't go hungry...most of the time. We go without most of the things that people who are on welfare think are necessities.

Giving assistance to people who won't actually starve without it is just one more way to keep people dependent on the government.

It made me sad, i m keep thinking of my black president everyday, i want to meet him and tell him that i cant believe the usa economy will collap soon, My small business has lost 35%- 40% percent gross income this year ( but my bottom line is fine !), i really want to create more jobs for some folks, but i cant! In addition, i have a feeling IRS will knock my door soon, i m so depressive ! Anyone can help me ?

Can't recall exactly, but isn't 43.3 million about the same number as the uninsured population that was used to advertise for Obamacare? Are we being set up for another trillion dollar bailout scheme?
