Take back the title-

USC should forfeit the 2004 national crown after reports that Reggie Bush and his family appear to have accepted financial benefits from prospective agents.

LOS ANGELES – The would-be agents who provided the house, the money for the tricked-out car, the luxury hotel rooms and the tens of thousands in cash used to roll right into the Southern California locker room after the game, right past security, to meet and greet the triumphant Trojans.

The marketing agent who provided the cash allowance, the plane flights, the limo rides and the designer suits used to hang around Trojan practices, filed paperwork with the athletic department and walked the sidelines of the Los Angeles Coliseum like he was Pete Carroll himself.

It is no surprise that Reggie Bush and his family cashed in on his future earnings during his Heisman Trophy career at USC, as so many allege. Finding eager agents willing to pay for an edge on representing him was easy; they were all over the place at the loose ship known as Trojan Football.

At practice. At games. In the locker room. At the football program's Heritage Hall. Even with permission of the athletic department's compliance office.

And so Bush and his parents, starting in October 2004 according to an eight-month Yahoo! Sports investigation, took and took and took.

And now the NCAA needs to take something, too – Bush's retroactive eligibility and a season and a half of USC victories, setting in motion the BCS' removal of the Trojans' 2004 national championship and the Downtown Athletic Club's repossession of Bush's 2005 Heisman

As sleazy as Pete Carroll is I’m surprised he’s not the Dem nominee for gov of Cali at this point. That said, the upper tier of NCAA football and basketball would be better re-named not “college sports” at all but what it is: just call it “cheating” and be done with all the investigations.

He should be indicted and made to re-imburse USC for ANY and ALL lost revenue for not being able to participate in post season games. This crap happened under his watch

In 1971 Villanova lost the NCAA hoops final to UCLA. Until the magic year of 1985 it was the Wildcats greatest year.NOT!! They forfeited all victories that year because their star player, Howard Porter, had hired an agent prior to the season. No contacts between the agent and the NBA or ABA had taken place. No dollars were exchanged, yet Villanova’s season was wiped out. Bush’s actions were more egrigious and the environment at USC certainly was no obstacle to Bush’s plans.USC should suffer at least the consequences of the 1970-71 Villanova Wildcats.

He knew what was coming and got out before it hit the fan.

I have no problem with that but Pete Carroll should not be allowed to get away with it, or any head coach for that matter

Absolutely he did. I also heard a rumor today that USC knew the ax was about to fall a month ago. That’s why all this talk of a Pac 10 expansion started. The Pac 10 was about to lose their cash cow, USC

We need only to look at Bama and Miami too see how long it takes a program to rebound from these kinds of sanctions— about 5 years. USC will not be relevant until 2015 at the earliest, and that’s assuming their recruiting picks right up after 2012 and they coach they players properly.

Absolutely, SMU was dealt the death penalty also. I just feel sorry for all the incoming and current student athletes and the very thought of Carroll and Bush getting away with it chaps my.......well, you know

College football is a corrupt sport. I hope someone starts digging into the LSU or Florida NC teams to dig for some dirt. They will find plenty. Then they can lose their NC.

The BCS is a complete joke anyway.

I agree, but coaches never get the sharp end. Calipari left UMASS and Memphis in ruins with the NCAA. he gets to coach KU.Carroll’s back in the NFL at Seattle. He had better job offers in the past. Why leave now. The hounds were at the door.

It needs to change.....This just in:

When Lane Kiffin met with the media to discuss the NCAA sanctions against USC, he distanced himself from any wrong doing.!
