The latrine wall....worked great before the internet, I still use it for my deeper thoughts I want to share with the world.

Single shots for dots, busts for dashes
If it gets that bad you won't want to waste the ammo. I suggest building a trebuchet and hurling liberals. One for a dot and two for a dash. You never run out of liberals. And hurling them into the pond never gets old.

I have taken note of the HAM radio antenna on a house down the street, now, I just need to make friends with him/her.

Amateur radio works really well.... As long as it's battery powered.
Don't forget solar power. Lots of hams add solar cells to their field day equipment.

The internet was originally designed to work under nuclear war conditions.

If they capture the radio waves we can try homing pigeons.

Thank you Obummer, World’s Greatest Guns and Ammunition Salesman, because of you...
There is a gun behind every blade of grass.
We’ll get back to basics if the worst happens.

Are round up a AN/GRC-109 and a GN -58 to power it.
THe tubes are becoming hard to find tho.
Other good choices
AN/PRC-74, AN/PRC-104 and the ubiquitous AN/PRC-25

I have been thinking about putting together a bug out trailer. A small 4’x4’ trailer that I can pack up with tents, shovels, axes, lanterns, matches, first aid kits, water, water filtration, rope, canned food, mres, weapons, ammo, etc etc. Something that I can hook up to my Jeep and bug out with.
This is another one of those things I would like to add. Some sort of HAM radio rig.

Early Christians used the sign of the fish to communicate with each other in Rome. Perhaps we’ll sneak around a heavily guarded downtown area looking for the sign of a cheese eating moose?

I like the previous poster’s idea of liberals being used as ammo in trebuchets. Finally, a use for liberals. They’ll really freak out when they’re not issued safety helmets for their flight!

If you freeze your liberals and strap them to your feet, they make damn fine cross country skis.

I predict most people will be staring at their non-working cellphones.
All too many ham operators are repeater-dependent so that is not so much help.I am afraid that a great many hams have gone overboard in their desire to be "official communicators" associated with the government;but then again some of those could be in a position to warn the the patriots of any planned patriot round-ups.There are standard simplex frequencies no longer widely used;plus ,unless the government gone bad is unusually stupid they will jam the airwaves while broadcasting denunciations against all resisters and promising great rewards for informants. CB,FRS, and 2-meter ham radios are all inexpensive new and probably ought to be a part of an intelligent emergency stash, along with a survival-type AM/FM/shortwave receiver.A spare ,cheap laptop with a modem might not be bad, either.
Don't forget a few carefully chosen books and manuals ,wire, and connectors.
Then there are the age-old bell, gongs, or the like. For instance a 3 foot steel crowbar suspended by a string and stuck with a hammer can be distinctive and loud.A variety of codes or actions can be sent by car horns, too.
Think of the effect on a team when upon exiting their assault vehicle for the forced entry ,they are greeted by the echoing sounds of alarms and find themselves surrounded by ........

I'm all set. Several sets that will work on a WIDE range of frequencies, a nice array of antennae on the roof and a variable 500 watt amp for just in case.
Believe it or not, there is a fair amount of chatter across many bands about this very subject. People are creating new, and maintaining older current nets.

At this point, the internet in some form or other will be running - barring a global asteroid strike.
Just have something that is buried in otherwise innocuous business traffic.
