Most of them might be but I’ve been called numerous times and I stated every time that I already sent in my form. They even called at 8:30 on a SUNDAY night. Today my babysitter was here while I was away and the worker harassed my 14 year old daughter trying to get her to answer questions. By all means you handle them your way and I’ll handle them mine. I find that humor is generally effective.
one other thing, if the census received it after a certain date, that is why you’re on a list. And they will continue to come back. It’s not the worker’s fault that the main mailing location didn’t get it in time, or maybe didn’t get it crossed off in time.
That case, IMHO goes beyond a humorous reaction. Unless you consider a police report and possibly armed confrontation humorous. In this day and age of perverts on the streets, harassing a 14 year old is dangerous. And should be.
In NJ, my daughter’s neighbor (in the downstairs apartment) knocked on the door non-stop as if an emergency. My daughter rushed downstairs where her neighbor told her that she had to fill out her census. My daughter already had done so and told her that. The other woman went on and on insisting that she tell her the information because my daughter was on a list that said they hadn’t gotten a form from her. Evidently, the neighbor was moon-lighting as a census person. The woman had a badge of sorts and wanted to know info about salary, etc.
The daughter told her to leave and said that the government had all the info necessary...that she was a citizen and lived there. Either there’s a scam going on OR they just are so incompetent they are losing all the forms OR they are double-counting for extra representation OR they need to give people something to do since they’ve hired tremendous numbers OR a combination of all of these
