“Have they gotten rid of the Muslim insurgents?”

I have never seen a Muzie here.
As I mentioned on another post, there are probably more in Detroit then in the Philippines.

They do have a group of insurgents, but they are down in Mindanao, and on Jolo Island, nowhere near anything.

I have a big old house on thirty acres. Am thining of having roomates with separate kitches and baths quite a bit. We should be able to have cleaning help and a relaxed country life a half hour from city lights.

I fo not know San Carlos.
I have been only to Bacolod and Dumaguete on Negros.
I live on Cebu, two hours south of Cebu city.

Even small towns have various drug counters.
I do not take any drugs or have any known medical problems,
but many, if not most of the American Expats here are grossly overweight, taking numerous medications, look like hell, but seem to survive.

I did buy some oral antibiotics for an infected scratch, and had no problem getting what I needed.
Most drugs do not need a prescription unless you are buying from one of the big drug chains in the cities.

Most every town has some sort of hospital.

Everybody knows they are called VANILLA envelopes.

I ordered a Manila milkshake once and I couldn't figure out why anybody liked 'em.

It tasted like licking a postage stamp to me.

I would be interested in more info on the ex military enclaves if anyone has info.

Retired Activities Office - Subic Bay, Philippines

http://www.raosubic.com/

Website has lots of info for Military Retirees and others who are thinking of moving to the Subic Bay Area (Olongapo City, Barrio Barretto, Subic City and the old Subic Bay Navy Base). You can also contact them via the contact info from their website. Also has links to a local VFW and Fleet Reserve Association (FRA) Posts and a few local establishments.

VFW Post 2485, Angeles City, Philippines. Location of the old Clark Air Force Base.

http://www.vfwpost2485.com/

Has some info on visiting Angeles City. Also has contact info where you might be able to inquire about living there and what is going on in Angeles City.

This link is to American Legion Post 123, also located in Angeles City, Philippines. - http://www.philampost123.org/

"Have they gotten rid of the Muslim insurgents?"

The Muslim population is on Mindanao and some expats live there in Davao city. The Muslim population in the PI is not particularly hostile to Americans. In the past the US has been the only thing keeping the other Filipinos from trying to wipe the Muslims out. There has been some violence and kidnappings in the past though. Historically, the Muslim violence that has occurred has been in pursuit of independence, not the usual convert-the-infidels, free Palestine, or bring-back-the-caliphate nonsense.

What money? You still letting them use your money? International travel? Buy a damn home elsewhere NOW, I’m not going into details on here. I’m sure you will figure it out.
