Outside this being a limp-wristed puff piece;
Now,
1. go after the owner of the dogs
2. giver her gun back to her (without excuse)

A basset hound is pretty much a defenseless dog anyway.

I wish she had too. Those kinds of dogs are really dangerous. The owners usually just see them as sweet pets though. I got bit in the face by a neighbor’s dog about 8 years ago and have stayed away from their house ever since. They decided to get rid of the dog recently, however, when it bit their own child in the neck and face. It’s always different when its your kid that gets hurt. Otherwise the dog can do no wrong it seems...

That can resolved within an hour, as a primary investigation; not 180 days.
Submit report, return the gun if owner has been identified then process. America does not need bitchacrates interfering with lawful citizens.

Perhaps a dumb question, but is there any law that a pistol needs to be “registered” in California?

Any dog that bites my kid is dead. And if the dog’s owner attacks me as a result... well, fill in the blanks yourself.

A basset hound is pretty much a defenseless dog anyway. Yeah, but unlike pugs who will bark at anything smaller than a interstellar gas could and get itself and its owner into a scuffle, the Basset hound can attempt to remain invisible.

She will probably never see her gun again, but it served her well. Another Pit Bull that wont eat a kid ro someone’s else’ pet. Yes I know it’s not the dog it’s the owners.

A neighbor and I shot a "Pit Bull" that had attacked another neighbor's Beagle. The other shooter was an off duty cop, so the police that showed up were much more interested in talking to him rather than me. They asked me for my contact info and how many rounds and what caliber the rounds were.
My gun was not confiscated .
