I happened to have that link handy because my sweetie in Chicago recently got a traffic ticket, and he was a few days away from a cross country flight to attend a graduation.

Illinois is the ONLY state in the union that physically collects your traffic ticket at the moment it’s issued. They give you a duplicate copy of your ticket and that is supposed to serve as a substitute until your court date comes up. But it won’t do at the TSA counter, of course.

If I lived in Illinois, I’d have both a DL and the state issued ID for that very reason.

I meant to say that they collect your Driver’s License when your ticket is issued.

But I know you smart FReepers knew what I was trying to say!
