A lone German supporter finds himself in the wrong place at the wrong time as he is surrounded by England fans bitter at their team's colossal loss.

The man, who was bare-chested in London's Leicester Square, is jostled and elbowed as he tries to find an escape route.

This was one of a few isolated incidents of football violence to flare around the world after England were sent crashing out of the World Cup after being beaten 4-1 by Germany.

I love college football, but I just don’t get people getting THIS invested in the outcomes of sporting events played by people they don’t know.

I guess it really is true that sports are a replacement for clan wars like in Braveheart. The desire for that type of activity has been channeled into being a fan of teams.

Also another reason why people don’t pay attention to what is happening right before their eyes..too busy reading celebrity gossip, watching idiotic TV shows or following sports.

And yes I love to watch sports...so I’m talking about myself too.

Getting beat 4-1 in soccer is just as bad as an American football team getting beat 28-7. But we in the good ole' USA are not quite this barbaric.

At least not in playoffs. :)

The UK Feckenham Ladies Rugby team was trounced by the German Tuntenhausen Bloomenbergensteinenthal Ladies by a score of 5 to nil whereupon afterward they all joined hands and popped of to the local pub for beer and Elderflower Cordial teas ....

However the UK team defeated by Germany had a different view of their opponents and fans .....

Are you actually allowed to kick the ball in Rugby?

Alabama fan stabs 5 Auburn Students

A fan screaming “Roll Tide” outside a fraternity house led to a violent altercation early Saturday that left seven Auburn students injured, five with stab wounds. At about 12:30 a.m. Saturday, a person described by the Auburn Police Division as an unknown white male yelled “Roll Tide” outside of the Phi Kappa Tau fraternity house at 841 West Magnolia Street in Auburn. One person at the house confronted the person who yelled, and a fight broke out between the two males. According to police, several others joined in the altercation, when the unknown white male suspect pulled a knife, stabbing one of the people involved in the fight. He then ran trying to escape the scene on Hemlock Avenue, with several people chasing him. About a block away a second fight broke out and four more people were stabbed before the suspect again fled.

‘Are you actually allowed to kick the ball in Rugby?’

Don’t ask me, I know more about Australian rules football, which is to say, virtually nothing.

Shocking defeat? From what I understand Germany was favored over England. Although that was a bad call on that “2nd goal”.

OK first things first - I’m American and love college football. However, that said, rugby union is the manliest sport out there. The players are as big as linebackers and offensive tackles, they run like running backs, they don’t wear pads, there’s no forward pass, and there isn’t 40 seconds to rest in between plays - its 40 minutes straight through each half with limited breaks for injuries or penalty kicks. Also, there’s no blocking - you generally go one on one both on offense and defense.

IIRC, years ago a Brit commenter stated before a UK-W. German World Cup match, “If tomorrow Germany defeats us in our national game, remember that we have twice in this century defeated them at theirs.”
