Sure seems like a way to make the dark side of Satan "cooler" and "hip".
The best vampire movie I ever saw was the BBC Louis Jourdan version of Dracula. Bad special effects of course (1970’s), but it is, strangely enough, a christian oriented vampire story.
For instance:
Dracula: A cooked bird for you, a human for me. What’s the difference?
Van Helsing: The difference between good and evil.
There are also numerous mentions of the saving power of Jesus Christ, mentions of the soul as a treasure that we must take effort to keep pure, etc. IMHO, the theme of this version is what spiritual warfare is and how it could carry over to the physical world.
It is also the very closest version of the original book. Many have problems with Jourdan but I think he deliciously underplays the part. If you can get past all the fake effects, I highly recommend it.
