Thousands of Czechs are protesting plans to place a Michael Jackson statue in Prague.
A group of fans plans to erect a 6-foot column with a bronze bust of the King of Pop in Letna Park, where Jackson held a concert in 1996. They want to unveil it Aug. 29 to mark Jackson's 52nd birthday.
City authorities have approved the project.
By Tuesday, more than 2,000 people had joined a Facebook protest claiming it makes no sense to put the statue in the park because Jackson had no connection with the Czech Republic.
Can’t blame them one bit. What had MJ done as to benefit the Czech Repubic?
Agreed. No self-respecting pigeon would even land on it.

So long as they don’t put a statue of him in an orphanage.
If they want to honor an American in the Czech Republic, they should go with the one American who actually did help them regain their freedom, Ronaldus Magnus.

Why not Frank Zappa? There is actually a status of him in Vilnius, Lithuania, and Vaclav Havel was a big fan of his.
In fact Havel said,
“Frank Zappa was one of the gods of the Czech underground,
I thought of him as a friend. Whenever I feel like escaping
from the world of the Presidency, I think of him.”
I already admired Vaclav Havel, and now this? Those Czechs have got themselves a great president.
