I had the misfortune of being on a MARC train from DC Baltimore recently. Although the conductor did actually announce the stations the sound quality was so poor I had no idea what he was actually saying.
Meanwhile there are crystal clear scrolling LED displays on each car that display the repeating message ...NO MESSAGE...NO MESSAGE...NO MESSAGE...NO MESSAGE...NO MESSAGE...NO MESSAGE...
