I finally gave up on inkjets. First one quit recognizing ink cartridges (even the new ones). Second one, a ‘new’ Lexmark piece of junk with a 60 day warranty, locked up and quit just after the warranty period. I had printed a total of about 20 sheets. The paper feed motor quit working and it had trouble recognizing the ink cartridges.
Next, I found a Minolta desktop laser (b/w) for $200 shipped. The thing is still going strong after 5+ years and I have not had to replace the toner cartridge. I don’t print much at home, but it is nice to have one that does work when I need it.
On CyberMonday of 2008, I ran across a Xerox color laser for $149 shipped. I jumped on that deal.
Whenever I need to print something, I just decide which of the two to use. Both will ‘warm up’ in less than 20 seconds, and I am ready to print.
I have had three HP deskjet printers in the last 12 years. Each one was replaced by a better model though they still worked fine.
