Regular readers will know that recently Ive liked to state my bias in the title of my mobile device reviews: I love the iPhone. Some will call that being a fanboy, and thats fine. But really, its just my opinion that the iPhone is hands down the best mobile device out there. If there were a better one, I would use it. But theres not. So I use the iPhone. And thats the angle I take towards these mobile device reviews. Its simple: if you want to be the best, you have to beat the best. Well, one finally has: iPhone 4....

One of the great advantages of my being over 60....
I no longer have to go gaga over the latest techy toy.
I have my four year old Nokia, which I rarely use, and my
full time desktop internet.
I spent my entire life in radio electronics as my profession.
If someone gave me an I Phone, I guess I would use it as a paperweight.
Well, how about one more “major feature?
* reliably making a phone call... it’s supposed to be a phone.
I like Apple products... I own a killer iMac and wouldn’t have any other computer.
I will NOT buy an iPhone until it dumps AT&T and contracts with Verizon, and in my view, it will not be a good phone until it does.
If they were with Verizon, I would buy two of them tomorrow, but instead, I am waiting on the Droid X.
For the $120 a month it takes to own one, it sure better be right up there, especially since you can get a similar data plan from Sprint for $69. True you have to get by with a Blackberry, Palm, or whatever that new G4 thing they have. But is it really worth an extra $50 a month just to have a trendy phone?
$120? where did you come up with that?
It isn’t the “trendy phone” you pay extra for, it is the data plan. For many people in the business world, having such a data plan is mandatory. It is just a matter of your preferred device.
When your phone gives out, I will get you a jitterbug.
*sigh*
I canceled my reservation but am keeping Clint JR’s because his 3G has a broken screen and a battery that won’t keep a charge for more than an hour. (Promised birthday present too) At least I will get to see how it works and if a software upgrade comes and fixes the antenna, but from the article that’s not going to happen, just fix the bars showing reception.
Unless I’m blown away by his I’m waiting for the iPhone5 next year that will operate on a 4G network, will upgrade the camera to the new 15mp standard, add Skype and or FaceTime that runs on the 4G network and not just WiFi and lastly have a Verizon option like they keep anticipating and anticipating. I use the 3G network more than WiFi and am disappointed the iPhone4 isn’t equipped with 4G capacity.
I don't own an iPhone, but if someone gave me one, I would definitely use it. I would put all my music on it for one thing. My iPod touch goes everywhere I go. It would replace both my current cell phone and my iPod.
Mine is $74.00 a month. Love my iPhone 4.
You can’t get on the internets with your Nokia to rebook your canceled flight instead of waiting in a 45 minute line at the airport or check your email. My old Nokia didn’t have GPS. iPod or all the software applications my old Hewlett Packard had either.
btt
4G just isn't ready yet. You might want to read another post I linked to:
FaceTime and Why Apples Massive Integration Advantage is Just Beginning.
Really? The Nokia S60 - from 2006 - had full Internet access, meaning it could rebook a flight and check your e-mail. Believe it or not, many phones have had Internet access before the iPhone was launched...
I guess from people I know with iPhones that have told me so. How much is an unlimited voice/data/text plan then?
“You cant get on the internets with your Nokia to rebook your canceled flight instead of waiting in a 45 minute line at the airport or check your email.”
Please note. I am now well past 60, retired, and not so much on the go.
Since I no longer live in the USA, I never encounter canceled flights, but fly only fly international a few times a year. I do not need internet to rebook. I can just call on the phone.
I do carry my laptop, and most always have WiFi available where I take it.
I am sure the I phone is quite helpful to younger guys on the go all the time and doing business. To me, it is just a toy.
My mobile phone days go way back, having owned an old conventional mobile phone company.
Oh, by the way, you CAN be on internet with just a mobile phone. My girlfriend is on Yahoo 24/7 with both my phone and hers. :))
Evo and Droid X are using 4G network now are they not?
Over WiFi or 2G?
Anyway, my guess for a single iPhone would be around $80. They bump up for unlimited texts, but 200 does me fine for $5 a month.
