YAKIMA, Wash. -- Bob Dylan's late summer performance has been confirmed and tickets go on sale next week for the Sept. 3 concert at Yakima County Stadium. John Mellencamp and a yet-to-be-announced third act will open the show.
"It's a huge, huge show for Yakima," said K.L. Wombacher, general manager of the Yakima Bears.
Dylan's and Mellencamp's websites had previously announced the stadium concert, but Bears officials were waiting to confirm the show.
Tickets are $55 and go on sale at 9 a.m. Friday, with a presale through Dylan's website beginning at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Presale tickets are also available for Bears season ticket holders and sponsors beginning Wednesday.
Tickets are available through the Bears downtown office, by calling 877-435-9849 or online at www.ticketfly.com.
Not only does this mark the first time Dylan or Mellencamp has played Yakima, it's also the first concert to be held in Yakima County Stadium, Wombacher said. The Bears wrap up their regular season home games the night before.
"We've wanted to do concerts for some time now, and with these guys doing ballparks, it was a perfect fit," Wombacher said. "I've talked with other GMs in baseball that have hosted these concerts and they just said it's awesome."
Last summer Dylan, Mellencamp and Willie Nelson embarked on a 22-date outing that stretched coast to coast, but missed the Northwest.
Wombacher said he's been in talks with Jam Productions, the company putting on the show, for about four months.
"They wanted to come to the Northwest and they were looking at a few teams in our league," he said. "We were real interested in bringing this show to Yakima."
All tickets for the concert are general admission and Wombacher said he anticipates the stage being set up in deep center field.
"People can sit in the bleachers or watch from the field," he said.
The show will start at 6:30 p.m. with gates opening at 5:30 p.m. Children 14 and under get in free with each adult ticket.
Saw Dylan a few years back in Oklahoma City. Was expecting the very worst but went because I am a huge fan who had never seen him live. Was really surprised at how good he did. Sober, etc. Really a good show that just made me smile all night. He’s coming to OKC again in August. Think I’ll go again.
I got a big kick out of the Christmas album. I thought it was classic Dylan. I really like it but have to be honest and say that it is punishing for my wife.
It’s a special and unique album that will continue to share a spot on my Holiday rotation along with Run DMC’s Christmas album.
As liberals trash America, you DEFEBD them via $$$$$$.
Throw as much money as you like at LIBERALS who are anti-American. I'll be particular in who I support.

This will help you Romneybot: http://www.angermgmt.com/
I saw Mellencamp in the 80s and it really was a fantastic show...Kenny Aronoff on drums (one of my faves back then). IIRC, they played for 3 hours. Of course, that was before I realized how much of a lib he was/is. Don't know that I'd see him these days.
Mow you are comparing Mitt to Bob Dylan?
How desperate can one get to DEFEND and $upport LIBERAL$?
Calm down. Support LIBERALS! Throw your money at them. I'm just pointing out how ridiculous and childish you are.
Yes, I did support Mitt. Now I am not sure who I will support. Mitt’s health care plan was disasterous.
“And by the way, Dylan has actually become pretty conservative in his politics.”
Can you elaborate on that?
RE: “Yes, I did support Mitt”
Then your admonition to anybody is a hypocritical and laughable.
I agree.
I think Bob Dylan is the greatest singer/song writer ever hands down.
But I've seen him in concert twice. In concert, Bob totally sucks.
Let’s say for arguments sake that Dylan is a liberal. He does not run for political office nor does he campaign for or make statements supporting any political candidate. He, therefore, does not effect policy. (But I did give you a link to an article that demonstrates Dylan’s conservatism)
On the other hand Mitt Romney is a gun-grabbing, gay-loving, culture of death-supporting, big government-loving statist who has held office and has put into place liberal policies and laws directly opposed to conservative values. Yet you support him when he can directly implement his anti-liberty beliefs if elected.
If you want to resort to name calling then it appears you are a flaming liberal troll with no concept of conservatism nor love for liberty.

Do YOU believe YOU should practice what YOU preach or do YOU just preach THAT to OTHERS?
big’ol_freeper you excel at “name calling”.

big’ol_freeper, you are living example of HYPOCRISY!
Name calling and hypocrisy are a way of life for YOU as YOU acuse OTHERS of what YOU routinely DO!
