Tiger Woods Fails to Break Par at AT&T

Not once all week at the AT&T National.

For only the fourth time (excluding major championships) in his PGA Tour career, Woods did not post a singe round under par during tournament week, finishing play Sunday at Aronimink Golf Club 4-over and way, way down the leaderboard.

Johnny Miller lost it? I thought he walked away at the top of his game.

Yup. The whole mental domination of the field is gone. I think Hunter Mahan, a outspoken young So Cal golfer and supposed friend of Tiger, said not long after the scandal emerged that no one was scared of him any longer.

Mahan caught flack from the PGA or USGA when he said in 2009 that the Ryder Cup was somewaht of a scam cause the players were not paid but the PGA or USGA made millions. Not long after he was picked for the team and helped win the Ryder Cup last year. I recall Hunter playing with Phil at last years U.S. Open )?) and they got on well. Two SO Cal guys.

Sort of hard to be mentally dominant when most people think you are a sleaze.

Duval lost it. It is very hard to keep that mental edge. He has an odd body with short legs and a long torso. He was the man but poof it was gone. Daly had it but hard living and mental issues destroyed that. Baker Finch and Faldo lost it but not sure if it was due to injury.

I think Miller just retired. Miller talks some cr*p when he announces but his 63 at Oakmont at the US Open was incredible. These top courses, according to a PGA guy I spoke with plus Golf Channel 10 hardest courses are almost impossible to play. Crazy and insane hard courses.

The putting goes first because are hands are not as steady as we get older.

He had leg problems, couldn’t walk the course any more. And, the yips. Couldn’t putt any more. I few weeks ago I heard him say it was burnout. It’s so hard for most humans to stay at such an elite level for more than a few years. Out of a planet of nearly 7 billion people, there are just a few hundred really elite golfers.

I should start by saying I know nothing about golf. I got this info from a guy that designs courses and from talking to a couple of guys I know that have played a few pro tournaments.

There's a huge difference between playing for yourself with some buds and having a gallery of thousands, plus television coverage, plus several million dollars hinging on a swing.

The golf course designer told me that the biggest challenge in designing a course is to make it so a pro won't shoot fifty and an amateur golfer won't shoot over a hundred. According to him, the difference between pros and amateurs is much larger than it used to be. Statistically, a good amateur will drive 70 yards less than a pro, and a pro will sink a putt from three times the distance that the amateur will.
