Deadline Hollywood ^ | July 9, 2010 | Nikki Finke

Posted on 07/09/2010 5:37:19 PM PDT by NohSpinZone

And last Friday, WME board member Ari Emanuel "woke up at 3 AM and emailed his partner Patrick Whitesell that 'we can't represent a guy who said the N-word'." So the agency dumped Mel Gibson on July 2nd, and the next day, on July 3rd, his agent Limato died.

WME’s clients list includes: Sean Combs (P Diddy or whatever he is calling himself these days), Eminem, Lil’ Wayne, 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, and Kayne West... So I guess if saying “the N-word” is such a big deal, WME should probably drop these guys too........

No way, right? It’s because these poor boys all came from deprived socio-economic backgrounds and don’t know any better. Pure tripe and typical political correct nonsense.

Wasn’t the “ex girlfriend” first impregnated by Timothy Dalton? Guess that kid is growing up so she needed another 18 year infusion of child support and Mel got played for a dummie. This is the ex girlfriend’s career...have a baby and get a payoff. John Edwards is in the same kind of honey trap...the dope. Mel should pay the Russkie off and be done with her. The only hope for Mel if is his exwife Robyn, and his 7 kids, take pity on him and take him back. He needs counseling and comforting more than he needs a trophy wife or girl friend.

I'll have to watch Edge of Darkness myself. Thank you for the tip. I feel sorry for Mel more than anything. I hope he can pull his life together.

there is a British version much much better, although the Gibson shortened version was ok. Older version is one of my favorites.

Review:
Groundbreaking environmental-espionage shocker Edge of Darkness (1985) begins routinely enough but then ratchets the suspense to levels that would have turned Hitchcock himself green with envy. Emma Craven (Joanne Whalley in her first staring role) is a young environmental activist killed in mysterious circumstances. Emma's father Ron Craven (Bob Peck in a star-making performance) will not be silenced and, as a police detective, is uniquely positioned to pursue his own unofficial investigation. He moves from grief to a determination to find the truth, all the while advised and/or comforted by Emma, but is she a ghost or a manifestation of his haunted psyche? Craven digs deeper, uncovering labyrinthine conspiracy in the nuclear industry and, as the body count rises, encounters the garrulous CIA agent Darius Jedburgh (a superb Joe Don Baker) with a mysterious agenda of his own. Accompanied by a haunting musical score by Michael Kamen and Eric Clapton, Edge of Darkness builds on the legacy of Tinker Tailor, Soldier, Spy and Smiley’s People to become quite simply the best television thriller ever. —Gary S. Dalkin

Mel has a right to be a racist. If I only watched movies or listened to music made completely by angels, I’d be very bored.

I listened to a portion of that tape. Nobody deserves to be be spoken to that way.

Vile.

Ari Emanuel complained about racial comments? The same Ari Emanuel who said "That is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. Everyone knows that blacks don’t swim" in reply to an agent who wanted to pitch a script about navy Seals to Wesley Snipes?

Truer words were never spoken. In fact, each of us has a constitutional right to be a racist — as most blacks I’ve ever known proudly are — and it’s time that each of us reasserts that right.

If the president of the United States can openly and viciously discriminate against whites at will (see his response to the 2008 NAACP questionnaire, see his Hate Crimes bill, read his own books, listen to his own “reconciliation” speech), then the rest of us ought to be able to us the “N” word any damn time we please.

I moved to Hollywood 6 years ago and honestly, I have less and less interest in seeing a movie every year I live here. I think I get to the theater about once a year. And I have no TV. These people are all about the scuzziest creatures imaginable.

Had he used a lot more restraint, Mel might have delivered an anti-breast implant rant that I would have cheered.

An actor without a script is a disaster waiting to happen.

“I’m not excusing Mel’s behavior”

Nor do I...

just a regular woman here....

Gibson has said and done some REAL Stupid stuff....
the worst of which is being an old man..smitten with a ... well..a gold-digging bitch...

My X and I ...both of us said dumb things at the end of the relationship...BUT...neither one of us taped the conversations and used it for personal gain...

Ouch....he left the mother of his 8 kids for this horror of a woman...

I’m thinking “Karma”

This is apparently the sort of outfit that Mel objected to in his rant.

OK, let's hear the Not Guilty Chorus.
