And yet the problem still made it through QA because Jobs didn’t listen to a senior engineer.

Unfortunately, it’s probably a $.10 issue that is causing all the problems. I don’t know how much it would have cost to clear coat those antennas in the factory but whatever it was, it would have saved millions of dollars of grief. Probably enough to build several testing labs.
I bet that there are truck loads of antennas getting clear coated as we speak.
