Hollywood shut down production of films critical of Hitler and Nazi Germany in the 1930s

Good point. I can't think of any anti-Hitler Hollywood films made in the 1930s. (People think of Charlie Chaplin's The Great Dictator but that wasn't released until 1940.)

There were some made but Hollywood did give them are hard time with the studio system. There were also memos included.

I read about it in some book on Hollywood censorship (including the Hayes Code and the Communist blacklist).

It was not essential to go through the Hollywood system (adults only films with nudity and other extreme subject matter were made in the 1930s-1960s).

I don’t recall the name of the book but the cover is grey/silver with a yellow logo and an image of a woman with a gun from something like a crime/noir film.

Nationalize the film industry and cap all salaries at $150k per year. Most of them aren’t worth that much.

"The US should nationalize the film industry."

You could make the argument that it's already been done - at least when Democrats are in power. Hollywood is a one-party machine.

Yes, and we should take the stars off the flag and replace it with a hammer and cycle. We could change the name to the United Soviet States of America and control all aspects of life with a 5 year plan. then we could round up the enemies of the state—you name will be on that list for crass capitalism. You might save yourself if you make a movie called The life of our glorious leader Obama and his transformation of the corrupt land into a worker’s paradise.
