Kara DioGardi -- Out at 'American Idol' (Major shakeup in judges panel of TV's Number 1 show)
TMZ ^ | 07/30/2010

Sources connected with the "American Idol" negotiations tell TMZ Kara DioGuardi has judged her last contestant on "American Idol" -- because she's been fired.

We're told the show will be going back to a three-judge format and assuming all deals are finalized, the judge's panel will consist of Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler.

We're told the only way Kara could get a reprieve is if the J-Lo deal falls apart -- but we're told that deal is done.

Ellen DeGeneres announced earlier Thursday that she was leaving the show after just one season.

Glad to see her gone...Ellen too, although she wasn’t nearly as obnoxious as I thought she’d be(Ellen). I heard that Harry Connick Jr. was being considered as areplacement for Simon, thought he’d be an excellent choice. We’ll see how this new panel does.

I liked Kara but I prefer the 3 judge format. Too crowded up there.

Did Ellen leave before being fired?

Okay I am fine with Kara and Ellen leaving but J Lo and Steven Tyler? Seriously, bring back Paula and put Bret Michaels in.

Folks (that means you who DO watch this show ),

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again — Season 10 WILL BE THE LAST SEASON FOR THIS ICONIC SHOW.

Simon Cowell’s departure ( and earlier, Paula’s departure) all but killed whatever chemistry was left on Idol.

To add insult to injury, we have the X-Factor coming to America.

For those who can’t remember, X-Factor in effect, took over Britain’s version of American Idol — Pop Idol, and effectively killed it.

What happened in Britain, can happen here.

Let’s face it, It’s been a good 10 years while it lasted.

Ellen was out-of-place; it wasn’t her schtick. I’ll miss Kara though; she was good.

Tin Foil hat on today, do you think Kara got canned because of daddy’s political views?

Yes, Ellen told Idol she was leaving at the end of last season. She agreed to delay the announcement until they made sure they had a replacement lined up.

It looks like Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler will be replacing Kara and Ellen. There will be NO replacement for Simon. Nigel Lythgow has made it very plain that he wants the panel back to 3 judges now that he is back in charge.

While all reports are still saying Randy is still on the panel - I am betting that there will be a ‘Surprise’ Randy has chosen to leave Idol announcement on Monday right before Fox holds their Fall Schedule press conference.

I would expect that Randy will be replaced by Nigel himself, or possibly Harry Connick jr.

, bring back Paula and put Bret Michaels in.

I'd love to see Bret Michaels... my only problem is his health. He could collapse in the middle of the show.

Harry Connick Jr. would be a good fit IMHO. He was a great mentor last season and has a great sense of humor ( IOW, he's entertaining to watch ).

Kara was a babe and had major industry cred.
Sorry to see her leave.

Somewhere Paula is laughing how the show nose-dived after she got fired.

She’s gone because she is a Republican. Her father is running for office in New York as a Republican. I won’t watch my favorite family show ever again. My kids will be disappointed but too bad.

Ellen was very disappointing on American Idol. She was hardly funny. She could have brought a lot of humor and fun to the show but it turned out boring.

Simon Cowell was always the linchpin to this whole endeavor. This latest news is just a death throe.

Being from New Orleans and familiar (or so I thought) with Harry Connick, Jr.s personality, I can’t see him being as caustic or hard nosed as Simon could be. Maybe I am wrong.
