Michelle Obama today faced a fresh wave of attacks over her lavish break in Spain with 40 friends, which could easily cost U.S. taxpayers a staggering £50,000 a day.
The First Lady has been lambasted for her extravagance at a time when the economy is still struggling. One blogger went so far as to brand her a modern-day Marie Antoinette.
And her critics will be further annoyed when they learn that the president's wife had a Spanish beach closed off today so that she, her daughter and their entourage could go for a swim.
Spanish police cleared off a stretch of beach at the Villa Padierna Hotel in Marbella after the Obamas had finished a busy day of sightseeing.

The last time this family could afford a vacation was nearly 11 years ago.
I would avoid her like she had the plague. Someone saw O’s caravan in Chicago yesterday or day before and said it was so “COOL”.....I said NOT COOL—The Jerk! & was reprimanded...on Facebook of all places!! I went in and discontinued contact with several on there after that.
That’s the very reason they closed it.
And the media/leftists used to howel when Bush would dare take a vacation to his own ranch!

Michelle Obama is just another ‘limousine liberal’, pretending to care soooo much for the ‘little people’ while living a luxurious lifestyle, partly on the taxpayer’s tab. The rank hypocrisy is palpable and people are noticing. Michelle Obama enjoys a high ‘approval’ rating but that’s because she keeps a relatively low profile. If she is in the spotlight for long, her obvious arrogance and sense of entitlement is obvious to all, and is a gigantic turn-off. I think Michelle may have taken one vacation too many.
I am glad she took Sasha on that trip.
It is very important for parents to teach
their children how normal people live. Those
poor middle class folks, the O’s, will never know how
the real elite live in these hard economic times.

I truly don’t know how in all good conscience...this woman could go to the lavish resort with her child while others in this country are hurting so badly. Then they said she was “resting” in her canvas shelter. Resting from what? Resting from what?
I truly don’t know how she can be living this lavish style while jobs are lost, the economy is so bad and everything else. It is shameful and blatant behavior that cannot be explained. She’s had many vacations this year and I wonder if she really knows how many hard working families have had to give up their ONE vaction this year with their families??? Disgraceful, irresponsible in your face behavior. Shame on them. Pure shame. I have no respect for either one of those people. None.
How soon till these two divorce?
