I grew up surfing the Pacific ocean. I watched Jaws when it was first released and I think it made me scared to go back into the water for about 5 minutes, or until the next swell came in.

I beleive these types of movies have a larger affect on younger audiences.

I was in high school when that movie came out. I took my nephew because I got stuck watching him on a Saturday afternoon. He was 9 or 10. He's still scared of swimming in the ocean to this day. He hates me for it, and so does his mother.
