To all people thinking of moving to Texas.....most Texans are really nice people......very friendly......but as with any place....there are some pricks.....the kind Bill Maher makes a living making fun of.....ignore em.....most are very nice......and welcoming too.

Indeed. If you had good Mexican you would be “eh, who cares?” about Del Taco.

In San Diego there are KILLER 24hr roach-coach Mexican food places EVERYWHERE! Robertos, Alibertos, etc.

My brother was down from Northern Cali celebrating my sisters 21st birthday. He got hungry and I said “Mexican?” he said yes so we started walking down the street. He asked me “Where are we going?” I replied “the closest place?”, “Where is that?”, “I don't know, but you can't walk too far before you find one!”

We went two blocks and there were TWO, right across the street from each other. And it was AMAZINGLY good!

“...and will probably be ok when I buy a new Chevy Traverse in the next few months......”

Why would any conservative do business with Government Motors?

Del Taco is surprisingly good for fast food. It beats the heck out of the crappy Taco Bell.

We used to make frequent road trips from AL to CA. My kids new the first Del Taco was in Yuma. I was obliged to stop.

I guess we'll stop earlier now.

I have yet to find a Mexican Restaurant that deep fries their own tortillas for tacos

El Fenix.

Del Taco is not new to Dallas or to Texas. I worked at one in Texarkana in 1981. They used to be all over the DFW metro area,

Who'd want their food anyway? They use "extenders" (=oatmeal) in their meat. If you want a taco, go to one of those greasy mom and pop joints in the Mexican strip mall, not to Smel Taco.

Since when does somebody come INTO Texas to show them how to make a taco?

There are various styles of Mexican food. TexMex is just one.

One I don't prefer.

If the Californians moved back to where they came from it would be places like Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and assorted cold places. The California paradise was ruined by people importing themselves into it from across the country. Let’s ease up on “Californians” I say. It is not any particluar state identity, rather it is people who just move somewhere to take advantage of its employment, culture or weather and then proceed to start changing it right away. THAT is what everybody resents. If people would come to a place and keep it as they found it instead of trying to remake it into the bad place they left, everybody would be fine with it I think. People just keep running away from leftists instead of standing their ground.

That does it for me! If they use oatmeal extenders in their taco meat, they probably use flavor enhancers (MSG) to make it taste better, or make you THINK it tastes better.

Here they actually use Chili con carne on their enchiladas.

Some Texan friends had my wife and me over once for enchiladas. I had no idea why there was chili on them.

It wasn't too bad.
