4. Tailgaters who easily could go around you

5. Don’t pay attention at traffic lights

6. Lane changers

8. Turn in front of you without using a signal.

9. Tailgate when you’re behind someone else.

Everyone has to come to a stop to let in the person riding out the merge lane. Which compounds the traffic jam.

At a 4 way stop?

ALWAYS look at who’s already there before you get there. That way you get there - you stop - you go.

Nothing is worse than 4 morons pulling up to a 4 way stop sign and then wondering who got there first. Wondering who should go.

I often see someone at a 4 way first. But since they weren’t paying attention, I pull out first while they are still stuck on stupid.

People in the left turn lane who stop well past the line.

It all depends on conditions. Maybe the left-turning lane is too short and if you don't use up all available space, the line of cars wanting to turn left will end up clogging the "fast" lane on the highway.

I thought that habit was unique to SW Pennsylvania. I've never seen it anywhere else. They may have a football field length of merge lane left, but they slam on their brakes because they must thin k they have to enter the controlled access highway at exactly the point where the entrance ramp first meets it.

Obviously, nobody in the controlled access driving lane will ever move over for these morons because they are stopping.

That’s great, except when the right lane is full and I can’t pull to the right fast enough to satisfy the SPEEDER WHO IS RIDING MY TAIL.

Someone once tried to pass me on the onramp.

And that wasn't even the guy who, though he was behind me, merged into traffic first while I was waiting for a car to pass and then sped up like he wasn't going to let me in even though my lane was about to end.

10. Wave you through a stop sign even though they were there first.

Oh boy is that a sore spot with me. I HATE THAT. It’s actually an passive-aggressive power play. I have right of way but I grant you permission to go as a boon.

As a counter-argument, I will do this sometimes if I am unsure as to who has the right-of-way. I'd rather make sure both myself and the other driver are on the same page instead of assuming one way or the other.

My personal pet peeve are drivers who treat entrance/exit lanes as extra passing lanes on the highway. This might be particularly endemic to Northern Virginia, but it is extremely annoying.

The biggest offenders around these parts are

1. Left-lane interstate tailgaters (you're already going 80) who force you over and then immediately get off at the next exit.

2. Serial lane changers who never signal their intentions, as though it were a sign of weakness, but simply drift right or left whenever the need strikes them.

3. People who refuse to use their headlights on dark, foggy, rainy or snowy days because they can see just fine without them.

And all of them have Massachusetts license plates, except for the few from Rhode Island, who might be drinking or texting as well.

3. Beep when you don’t instantly start after a green light

If you are going through you car and not paying attention. Talking and looking away from the light. Feeding the kid in the back seat. Talking on your cell phone or texting. Putting on makeup (my favorite), adjusting all the dash knobs. Sleeping, reading a book, or playing with yourself. You will hear my horn from behind you. Depending on what you are doing, I hold the horn. I don't really care if you don't like. If you are driving pay attention stupid.

Actually agree with you...to a point.

Moved here from SoCal...and was appalled at the driving skills of some of the locals here.

Pull right out in front of you...when you are going 70 mph.

Stop on hwy on-ramps...instead of trying to M E R G E.

Drive me crazy....Ha!!

A little courtesy never killed anyone. Maybe I have the right to make my turn, but it's easier to negotiate the turn if I wave someone else out of the way first.

Not everything is flat and at 90 degree angles.

Really? You mean the pass on the right in the entrance lane? I’ve never seen that myself. Pretty dangerous I’d say.

treat entrance/exit lanes as extra passing lanes on the highway.

Co-worker’s buddy (from Bangladesh) gets new license. Drives from NY to VA, slowly and not too surely, to visit ... all the way down I-95 in the left lane.

A lot of drivers think the left lane is a place where one gets to drive a fast as they dang well please. I can be driving six or seven miles over the speed limit in the left lane, but that’s not fast enough for the guy tailgating me. The reason I’m not in the right lane is because the drivers there are driving UNDER the speed limit. You leave me no choice.

Drivers talking on their cell phones can be tremendously distracted from the task at hand. It's not a 'hands free' issue so much as an inability to divide attention properly.

I got stuck walking behind a woman on the sidewalk recently who was totally caught up in a phone conversation. She lurched left and right, stopped, started, and cut off all my attempts to get around her. She was absolutely oblivious to my presence. I had to detour into the street to get ahead of her on the sidewalk. When people do that while driving it's a menace.

20% of Oregonians have never passed a car.

A local explained it to me that it goes back to the Oregon Trail. One wagon plodding along after another.

When I'm out riding my bicycle, my view is that they are hoping I'll go in front of them so that they can have a better chance at hitting me. ;-)
