If “no-one prefers a slower speed”, why would you only drive 76 if you could drive 80? Isn’t that the very definition of “preferring a slower speed”?
I realise you might “prefer” the slower speed simply because you don’t want to get a traffic ticket, but it’s still a preference, and one not shared by the person who is tailgaiting you hoping to get you to move over.
