Wall Street is ditching the white stuff in favor of something somewhat more green. And we're not talking about cash.
Marijuana was present in 80% of failed drug tests last year, up from 64% in 2007, according to the tests reviewed by Sterling Infosystems Inc.. Cocaine showed up in only 7% of positive Wall Street drug tests last year, instead of 16% in 2007.
Relative to the rest of the working world (3.6% of whom failed drug tests last year), the finance industry is pretty clean, with only a 2% rate of drug test failure, according to the Wall Street Journal.
In addition to coke and weed, some Wall Street professionals are popping pills like Oxycodone or Percocet. And amphetamines were big too, with 10% of positive tests including that class of drugs.
According Robert Curry, founder of a Connecticut rehab company who sees several clients from Wall Street, in the WSJ:

Rich man's high is losing turf to the 'evil' weed.
They’ll live longer just smoking pot.
Wow, times must be hard. Even Wallstreet is cutting back. [/sarc]
no wonder things are slowing down on the street, bummer man.
Then: “I snort Coke, to do more work, to make more money.”
Now: “Dude, someone named “margin” called, like yesterday?”
I think they need to lose themselves in another world, what with the constant attacks against them by the White House and press, who blame them for everything.
Seems like the executives are dropping acid with the way thingd are going.
2 percent? 2 lousey percent?
Even if you think drug tests miss most users, that would be what...6 or 8 percent max? No matter how you work the numbers, at least 90% of people don't use drugs.

True, but they'll miss a lot of trades and we won't get those good scenes of them freaking out when the market goes against them.
Apparently even the non-drug users suck at their jobs.
“You want me to call option? Who’s option?”
This is because pot has gotten a lot stronger than it was back in the hippie days. The stuff they sell now has way more “active ingredient” than the Woodstock generation was used to ingesting.
“Pot had helped, and booze; maybe a little blow when you could afford it.” - Barack Hussein Obama.
Wonder what the pee test would be if we put Congress through it. Today.
Well, at this point the economy is out of their hands. we never should have devolved into an economy that is sustained soley through speculation and financing.
Spicoli the trader.
Cocaine: the gateway drug!
“the drug culture has made it seem as though drug use was much more common in society than it actually is”
That’s because drug users work in occupations that don’t drug test. Show me construction, lawncare, or fast food workers that DONT use drugs.
“Seems like the executives are dropping acid with the way things are going.”
That not the Street dropping acid, that’s the Whit Hut doing acid.
