It’s about padding out a fake trailer from Tarantino’s Grindhouse double feature into a full length movie.

When is John Landis finally going to make See You Next Wednesday?

Todays action movies have been filled with so many unbelievable and impossible spcial effects that they aren’t worth watching.

I think this one has some other reasons to keep me home. I pass.

Mexicans are being hacked to death and beheaded across the border. Rodriguez wants to make more violent movies glorifying it. He and Tarantino just make violent blood soaked crap. Quentin will say - oh I am just following in the footsteps of Sam Peckipah.

Hollywood is s**t.

Sadly John Landis is another sellout. He was backing Polanksi.

Here’s a review with some of the background on the plot

When it’s not LOL-funny, Robert Rodriguez’s Machete is downright dull.

Rodriguez's work on Grindhouse was far better than the Tarantino half. I don't know if Machete the move is any good but even the trailer was better than Death Race or whatever stupid movie Tarantino made.

Tarantino should have used the money from both of those films and remade Escape from LA.

Why is it directors feel they need to remake GOOD movies?

This is the film being incorrectly described that way by many commentators who haven’t actually seen it. In reality it’s a blaxploitation flick with a Mexican, lots of violence, some explosions, gratuitous nudity, and some semblance of a plot that nobody who’s going to watch the movie is going to pay any attention.

Ok, this just goes to show I watch entirely too many bad movies.

Does anyone recall a couple of movies a few years ago called "Death Proof" and "Grind House" by Tarantino?

Well at the beginning of those movies it gave you cheesy trailers.. "Nazi Wearwolf Women", etc.. and one of the trailers was for "Machete", with this actor in it.

Ok, do I get the obscure fact win of the day?

:-)

I love Trejo and hope the reports of the film being a bash-whitey fest aren’t true.
I’m still waiting for “Werewolf Women of the SS”....

Everybody already knew that. That’s how this got made, somebody decided there was enough positive buzz about the Machete trailer to actually fun the movie (he had a script from ages ago). They’re also making Hobo with a Shotgun, due out next spring.

Terantino and Rodriguez make fun movies, but they never make much money because they are targeted to campy nuts like me. I hope this is watchable, but Trejo will not be seen in this role after this movie craps out.

"Rodriguez's work on Grindhouse was far better than the Tarantino half."

Agreed, but that's more a comment on how bad the Tarantino half was. The Rodriguez half wasn't good by any means but it wasn't as mind numbingly boring as the Tarrantino half. Which is a shame because the "1970's drive in double feature" concept was petty cool if they had executed it better.

I've always liked Danny Trejo. But I don't like the "anti-immigration senator" aspect of the plot. So I'll pay to see another film and then sneak into the last showing of 'Machete'. Possible to do on a week night when the cineplex cuts staff.

Then I'll wait till I can get the DVD for free from the library in about five months.

LOL

Too funny. Make a fake trailer and get enough buzz that you make a real movie.

Hobo with a Shotgun?! OY

Yeah, sure - El Gigantesco!!! El Legendario!!!! JAIMEEEEEE BONDO!!!!!

Except he’s hideously ugly, his hair always looks filthy/oily, he dresses like a payaso, he grunts instead of speaking, did I mention he’s realy ugly, and... well, on second thought maybe he’s a perfect Latino hero.

But, I’ll probably see the movie anyway. I love that stuff, and it’s just gotta have hot Latinas!!!

The Stuntman Mike movie was 90% fast forward material and maybe 12 minutes of good stuff.
I have never seen so many sympathetic victims that i wanted to see die so bad in any movie before.

I still can't believe Kurt Russell agreed to be beat to death by chicks.
Actually i can't believe Kurt Russell even agreed to do the movie at all.
