Revealing: What ABC Didnt Show You from the CMA Country Music Fest
Posted By Bruce Carroll On September 2, 2010
This article is nearly three months in the making. For the second year in a row, my partner John and I attended the Country Music Association (CMA) Music Fest in Nashville, TN in early June. As a side note, if you ever get the opportunity GO! It is a weeklong celebration of great country music and the great American city of Nashville.
But this isnt a tourist agency pimping of Music City. Nope, it is a damning indictment of Hollywoods natural, auto-immune liberal bias. Let me explain.
During the actual CMA Music Fest in June there is a massive concert each of four nights at LP Field where the Tennessee Titans play football in the fall. The good old American Broadcasting Company takes four nights of country music and compresses it into three hours. That edited program was shown last evening on ABC for all to see.
As I sat in LP Field in June and saw each nights great entertainment unfold, I knew with confidence that two notable events would NOT be aired last night on ABC. I was right.
In fact, I tweeted live from the floor of the concert when one of them occurred. Unfortunately, as usual, Twitters status history is malfunctioning. When viewers saw Tim McGraw sing Southern Voice last night on ABC, there was an important moment that the network cleverly edited out and actively hid from America. Why? Because it was inflammatory and would have exposed McGraw, a passionate Democrat activist, to extreme ridicule today.

I know what a Black Power salute is, and I’m old enough to remember the 68 Olympics in Mexico City - Tommie Smith and John Carlos still get asked about that. And agree with those two or not, they were both fine athletes who risked their reputations and futures in order to make a political statement. Tim McGraw isn’t making any statement other than “Spend money on my records”. Breitbart is just stirring the pot and hoping that people buy the shit that floats to the top.
“If Christians themselves have placed it in the dust bin of history, why not ABC?”
I can only assume that you haven’t visited the millions of churches around this country. To say that “Christians themselves have place it in the dust bin” is painting with a pretty broad and ignorant brush.
We sing that hymn regularly in church, and have attended and/or seen a number of congregations sing the song during worship.
Nixon, yellow fin catch, and Bush - Right on.
Kerry - Looks like a hand puppet.
What age group was that crowd at the concert you attended?
It’s hard for me to believe any group of Christians would not be awed with the power and majesty of the song “How Great Thou Art”, even if it is an oldie.
I want to thank ‘This Just In’ for the post and the video of Carrie Underwood singing her medley ‘Jesus, Take the Wheel/How Great Thou Art’. It’s the first time I’ve heard her do that and it brought tears to my eyes.
Dear Lord, if You still listen to the prayers of this poor old sinner, please bless Carrie Underwood and allow her to continue to remind us poor sinners of Your greatness and mercy through her music, Amen.
“How Great Thou Art” is most definitely a classic, a solemn song of praise that can bring tears to the eyes. But “Jesus Take the Wheel” also has its place as a song of surrender, and the amazing thing is that it was played on more than just country and Christian radio stations. It can also bring on the tears; hopefully it planted a seed in people who haven’t been blessed by the traditional hymns yet.
If you would like to check out a version that doesn’t include the distraction of watching a singer, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8-YO6g05aA just shows the lyrics while the song plays. You can judge for yourself.
You’re very welcome, RebelTex. You added a little sunshine to our evening.
Lancey Howard, I can’t view the vid. Can you give me a play-by-play?
Carrie Underwood is queen of the universe as far as I’m concerned.
“Breitbart is just stirring the pot and hoping that people buy the shit that floats to the top.”
Sorry, stormer, but I believe Carroll is making a legit point.
I don’t think McGraw fist pumping to southern voice has shite to do with white power.
I live here and know him vaguely. He is a not very well informed southern Democrat who is a little bit socially conservative. His wife who is from Mississippi and should know better runs with the arty feel good crowd here and probably tugs him that way with her persuasive skills which appear to be quite nice.
Most artists here are far more conservative than the witches coven of old fembot women who run music row except as label heads.
Now the snub of Underwood and Jesus is about what to expect from media folks from New York who like neither Country Music or Jesus.
CMT is much the same...run by the same crowd who ran MTV and VH1 in the ground...aside from Chet Flippo they suck too...I will not go to social crap here where they are..bunch of metero and gay programmers basically...and dark angry womyn.
Hey, Lancey. Tell your queen to please do something about that guy in the White House. Please. :^)
ROTFLMAO...you are hilarious.
I noticed the change in the CMT as well as the programming. This is around the time we threw out our cable television. We just watch educational DVD’s, rentals, and films on disc. One of the best decisions we ever made.
Can’t view this either, but are you linking to the video of Faith Hill’s reaction after Carrie Underwood won the award?
If so, I’ve seen the clip. I hope Faith Hill is ashamed of her behavior.
???
What happens when you click on the links I provided?
Are you on like an antique computer or something?
I like the old stuff myself.
Oh my goodness, that video of Carrie singing Jesus Take the Wheel/How Great Thou Art was just amazing. I cried.
I didn’t know she had such a strong faith, but heard her the other night on an awards show thank “my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.” And I can not only see her passion in this video, but I can feel it too. Praise to the Lord!
God bless Carrie Underwood for glorifying the Lord the way she did with those songs. What an amazing gift He has given her!
