for you grammar police, I am aware the title in wrong in so many ways ;0)
As a Christian and a very very very political one at that, history teacher and Political Science major....I get more criticism for my "politicking" from Christians than any of my liberal acquaintences....
They call me mean because I criticize (sometimes pretty harshly) Obama and his minions. They say Christianity of about LOVE and they way I react is NOT what Jesus would do. I have of course come right back at them from every direction possible. I need some fresh responses... and perspectives before I lose my mind. I refuse to let them shut me up....and since I hold Freepers way up on the intelligence pedestal, I would cherish some fresh ideas on how to respond to them.
So......why should Christians be involved in politics? And any reference to scripture is certainly welcome!!
In other words...........H E L P!
How about Jesus didn’t have to deal with Obama?
IBTZ....sorry wrong forum.
Breaking news????
That's because they're liberals more than Christians.
I called myself proofreading that article.......grrrr...now I see so many errors.....figures....please forgive, I am exhausted as my 20 month old has not figured out that night time is for sleeping,.... :0(
Did those same "Christians" give George Bush their love?
one man, one vote. Are these libs saying because of who you are you do not have a say in how the country runs? Who is allowed free speech and who is not? In their eyes, apparently Muslims have freedom of religion and free speech but Christians do not. Labor unions have free speech but the businesses that employ them do not. See if they agree with some of these premises, and if so, I wouldn’t waste my time debating with these people because their are irrational or unintelligent.
LOL!
Fighting evil is the Christian thing to do.
Don't worry.
He will.
You should ask them if they think Jesus was mean when He threw the merchants out of the temple.
You might also ask them if they think Jesus was wrong when He said that homosexuals will not enter the Kingdom of heaven.
Then start quoting Jesus ANYTIME he spoke about “religion”.
1 — Remind them that Jesus MADE A LASH AND DROVE MONYCHANGERS FROM THE TEMPLE.
2 — My tagline is taken from Micah 6:8, which says: “He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?”... Simply put, we are to DO justly, not “do mercy.”
3 — When did it become an expression of “love” and “mercy” to ‘tolerate’ injustice and evil? If that is truly the case then surly those that protest abortion are going against any “true” Christian expression.
Oh thats a good one.....
and I forgot the Vanity in the headline....I’m really sorry....I will go to freeper time out....
I was going for the IBTZ also. But I checked her sign-up date.
Carry on.
please don’t report me....and what is IBTZ???
Please don’t take offense to this, but A Christian Minister is in some ways, like being a politician.
You depend on the public for your support.
You succeed more by telling them what they want to hear.
You kiss a lot of babies.
You shake a lot of hands.
A couple of things come to mind: Love the sinner but hate the sin; Christianity is also about obedience to God's Word, not man's folly...
“How about Jesus didnt have to deal with Obama?” No Jesus had to deal w/ Pilate, Herod and Chiaphus(sp?). They were MUCH worse!
Jesus was ALL about politics of the time! He was fighting (albeit mostly passively) against the status quo. Remind your friends about that time Jesus went off on the moneychangers in the Temple—did He do that peacefully and lovingly, kindly asking the corrupt moneychangers, y’all, please don’t do that! with rainbows and sunshine and little singing birds all around him?
Heck, no! He yelled at them and flipped over their tables and took a whip to them, chasing them out of a place they had no business being in!
You keep fighting the good fight, mama. Your friends are wrong. Jesus came as a lamb then, but will return as a LION!
Fight on!
“They say Christianity of about LOVE and they way I react is NOT what Jesus would do”
How about when Jesus thrashed the moneychangers in the temple and rebuked the Pharisees for their hypocrisy. Tell your academics to shove it.
I’ve been here a while just haven’t posted articles very much....
and I am a little bitter from having some legitimate breaking news stuff pulled from “breaking”, so I am being rebellious.

Jesus ripped the Jewish authorities to shreds and was hung on a cross. John the Baptist condemned King Herod and lost his head.
In Before the Zot. :-)
Here is just one passage from God’s Word where King David had insight about God’s attitude towards corrupt leaders:

Christians started and made this country.
So......why should Christians be involved in politics? And any reference to scripture is certainly welcome!!

I’m always reminded of the Apostle Paul.
This man knew his politics! He knew the political game from a Jewish, Greek and Roman point of view. And he used his political gravitas to further the gospel.
How? By appealing to Ceasar. Paul used his legal and political rights to travel to Rome and spread the Gospel along the way.
And we Christians today have that same right as Paul did. We have even an obligation to know our laws and study the Constitution to stand up for our beliefs.
So yes. A Christian can be politically active.
You’re doing fine. Don’t worry about posting vanities. I’m like many FReeprs who may razz ya a little, but I’m also one who can positively respond.
See my post 30 for instance.
I think Christianity absolutely has to affect politics and anyone who says no neither understands their faith nor the basic definition of the word polis, which is where we get the word politics. Politics is how we govern our community. Our faith will inform us on all of our values about everything - should we eat people, abort babies, participate in orgies, etc. etc. I’m about read to start digging into a great book by Eric Metaxas about Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a devout man of God who was one of the group who tried to assassinate Hitler. Yes, our Christianity must inform out politics, otherwise, why not just sit up on a mountaintop and meditate on God all the time? I don’t think so.
Thank you, I am sending that viral!!!
I do run into this. It’s not a zot, it’s a good question.
It is important to keep personal hatred out of our positions, but IMHO just as libs use “taking care of the poor” as an excuse to be liberal, I use “taking the poor for a ride” as an excuse to be conservative. Standing back and watching people use the system to destroy lives is just as unChristian as standing back and watching people starve.
Remember Jesus threw the money changers out of the temple.
Jesus did say “render unto Ceasar”. We still do pay our taxes. But when he saw poor people being taken advantage of, he acted. The poor in the temple were forced by the system to buy things of which they normally had no need, and the system had set up a racket to “help them out”.
Here are also a few articles.

Not only that but Jesus predicted the destruction of the Temple.
LOL! So true... but I hope that ministers tell us the truth and not what our “itching ears want to hear.”
I've often wondered if what Jesus was trying to convey was that they were 'non-repentant'.
It wasn't that Jesus was saying 'everyone get's into heaven except homos'. At least I don't believe that is what he was trying to say.
Not only that but Jesus predicted the destruction of the Temple.
Do these Christians know what this country was founded upon? Do they know the story of John Winthrope or Increase Mathers? Do they not know of religious people’s involvement in the abolition of slavery and getting black people’s civil rights recognized? Should Christians stand by while millions of babies are murdered?
You go, girl.
Bookmarked for posting some of these great responses to my FB.
some seem to think that Christians should be a bunch of soft weak cowards and always should turn the other cheek.
Aside from from necessity of saving our souls, why do you think Jesus was killed? The Sanhedrin felt that he was threat to their authority and took the issue to the Romans (who didn’t want any part of it...).
“So......why should Christians be involved in politics? And any reference to scripture is certainly welcome”
Christ seemed to advocate a separation of spiritual from secular when he said “Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, Render to God the things that are God’s”.
Yet here is the dilemma for Christians who dwell in representative republics. The people collectively are Caesar and our government derives its power from the people. Christians are also the children of God and subject to his Lordship as well.
Therefore Christians are part of the people from which our government springs from and therefore we must be part of and play a part in the governance of the body politic; being subject also to God’s judgment for any part(good or evil) we play in the government or don’t play! The Bible says we are to be subject to and obey the laws of our Kings and officials, yet our system is set up so that all of us are responsible for the selections of the ruling officials. The people are the collective “king” of the land.(plural deliberately not used)
Therefore Christians must not and should not shrink back from adding their voices and perspectives to the selections of our Governments, even when it seems a majority has turned away from God at present. In the times past, God might hold a king responsible for the spiritual conduct of his lands, but in a representative republic, God holds us all responsible...for the people are the “king” here and government only rules by our consent.
George Washington said it was “Religion and Morality that were the twin props from which springs our liberty”. A like minded consensus of the moral will of the people would ensure the proper running of the constitution but sadly we have lost that consensus and God will surely judge us for turning our backs from him. It was a Christian consensus in this nation that was the aegis under which the forming of the Constitution occurred and it will take a restored Chrisitan consensus to restore its proper function. All the more reason for Chrisitians to stay involved in the body politic!
some seem to think Jesus was a pansy who would never fight and now think Christians should look the other way all the time and love everyone even if they are being hurt themselves.
Screw that I’m not going to turn no other cheek and I certainly will not love some sinners like some say .
Someone hurts me I hurt them none of this pansy playing around .
I remember some Christians were attacked off homosexuals in san fran last year and instead of pressing charges or fighting back they said they still love them.
Screw that ,
I have the same problem, Drew’s mom. It’s nuts. Jesus had quite a bit to say about the leaders of the day - he was quite vehement about their mistreatment of people!
Christians are to stand against evil - things like theft and oppression. If they don’t think this government is doing both, they are not paying attention.
The biggest reason that I speak out against Obama and his regime is that they would like nothing more than to replace God in people’s lives. They are like the modern day builders of the Tower of Babel. They would love you to look to them for your sustenance and happiness rather than to God.
I am reading a history of socialism and early on the indoctrination is that government comes before relgion.
I am not saying that I believe people should be forced to worship God, I am saying they should be free to serve God if they choose, and NOT to serve government.
As an American, you have that right.
This is more like proving a negative. There are no reasons why a Christian should NOT be involved.
First of all, most every Old Testament prophet (Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Daniel and most of the 12 minor prophets) were actively engaged in calling their nations back to the LORD. Of course, they lived in a failing theocracy at the time, so there was not as clear of a distinction between the temple and the government.
We do not live in a theocracy, but like every citizen of the US, Christians enjoy the right to practice their own religions. The First Amendment gives us more than the rights to our personal beliefs; we are guaranteed the right to EXERCISE those beliefs without government interference. Note, the First Amendment ties the government’s hands, not the hands of the Christian citizen. The first Amendment reads, in pertinent part: “”Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof...” Part of freely exercising our religion is using our personal faith to guide our political activity.
The LORD’s constant warning through his prophets was that if His people did not obey Him, they would become slaves of someone else. The reason these Biblical prophets were placed in the Bible are because all their prophecies came about, except those which remain in our future. As engaged Christian citizens, we too need to heed the danger of turning against the LORD as a country. Like Israel, we too can, and are, losing our freedom. Ironically, the Babylonian empire (which includes present day Iraq and Iran) were the ones who eventually finished off Israel. We’re still battling this same enemy today.
Well, if we tell you, then everyone will know.

It's an acronym for IN BEFORE THE ZOT.
Apparently, someone thought you might be a troll, and your post would need to be ZOTTED. (Removed by the FR staff)
ZOTTING is accompanied by the VIKING KITTIES. ( you might want to look into joining them)
First though, we gotta figure out why your THREADS keep getting removed, and you keep getting mistaken for a troll.
First lesson is, this is a VANITY POST, and you should add (VANITY) to the end of the TITLE.
That helps viewers orient themselves before reading the posted article.
Second, posting a Vanity thread is like sticking your hand in a live beehive to get some honey. You are going to get some negative reactions from the 'hive'.
