Thank you much....I may just copy and paste that hahahaha!
That is a point I almost made on another thread recently. However, the thread had become so long I decided no one would ever see it anyway. That may be true this time, also.
The essence of Christianity is God's commands given to Moses on the mount and the teachings and life of Jesus. The 1st Commandment encompasses the other nine, basically saying to love God with all your being. The teachings of Jesus are varied but He essentially gives us a direct personal avenue to God through Him. He says if we believe in Him we will not perish but will have everlasting Life.
All that is required of us is to follow God's commands, trust His will to be done and have the faith that Jesus requires of us. Having the faith Jesus requires of us will bring His grace.
With that as a basis, Christians are spiritually moved to resist Evil, passively on a personal basis and actively on a social basis. Otherwise, the mountaintop, a convent, or any other means of isolation while dwelling on God's word and presence is satisfactory.
By that Mum, I mean the presence of God in you and your acceptance of Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior compels you to resist Evil. There is no doubt that Obama and his gang are Evil. They are Communists by upbringing and teaching and some with a strong Muslim influence. They are in league with the Muslims, when not actually Muslims themselves, and both Communists and Muslims seek the end of the USA, Christianity and Jews while pursuing their domination over all the world.
You may not want to argue this with your friends but it is true - the Democrat Party has been taken over by the Marxists and Marxists are anti-religion, other than the religion of Marxism. All else must be subservient to the Party, which is the State, just as acceptance of Islam automatically brings us Sharia Law.
You are doing the Lord's work and if it suits you, ignore those who disagree.
Society is political by nature. It must be in order to agree on and to enforce a framework by which individuals will relate to the whole. By nature, this requires a distinction between Good and Evil. That is the purview of religion. Without religion's involvement in politics, and human nature being what it is, Evil will eventually win out. Do your friends want that to be Sharia Law, Marxist Statism, or a Constitutional Republic influenced by Christianity? Most other religions of any size are of the meditating on the mountaintop type. (That last sentence may be incorrect but until someone corrects it I will stand by it.)
Thank you Bitsy.
And that is one thing I struggle with. I hesitate to remove them because I know for every one that speaks out, there are several “sleepers” out there that believe the same way and they influence others. My biggest challenge has been to rally the troops (Christians) to get their heads outta the sand and/or their bums.....and speak up AND vote.
Someone told me (i can’t verify) that in the 08 election only 26% of all Christians voted. That’s disgusting.

I’n not sure of that statistic. By the way, are you Irish or British? Only because you used bums instead of but(t). My co-worker is Irish and I think I’ve heard her use that term. If you read Revelation, there is nothin passive about the book or Jesus’ role.
hahahahahahaah
no, I’m 110% red blooded southern belle.....haha
and my heritage is Scottish with a little of this and that thrown in...
I just know the Brits, Irish and Aussies call ‘em bums...
and since I’m a teacher (or was) I use that word...instead of butt.... ex: “Please sit on your bums and not your feet, heads or each other”...or “if you don’t sit your bum down, I’m calling your mom right now in front of the whole class”....
haha see? There is a method to my madness........ sometimes.
Wow, over 100 posts on my vanity..... I feel a big head coming on....
and even after I got bumped out of “breaking” and off the “front page” pfffftttt.... take that Admins....
No. really, I’m just kidding....only kidding...please don’t delete my thread....please.... :0)
Im a teacher (or was) I use that word...instead of butt....
I can understand why bum would be the better choice. I’m a southern belle too - Louisiana!
I was just thinking today that a heathen brings his Godless thinking into every meal he eats, his driving, his TV watching and his every thought political, social or otherwise. While he brings his Godlessness into every political thought and action I, as a Christian, bring the Lord into every meal I eat, my driving my tv watching and my every thought. Why in the world should I ever pretend to do otherwise especially to please some Godless heathen!?
I love what you wrote! All I know is I read Schossberg’s book on Christianity and the culture. It’s a must read in my opinion. He really tackles all of the arguments. Bless you brother (or sister?).
Oops.. it’s Schlossberg (I misspelled). The book is “Idols for Destruction.”
Heh. :)
Kidding. :)
I am a brother and I am glad we are in sync on this subject.
Looks like she survived.
But not in breaking news. :>)
LOL!
He also promised in The Gospels that His purpose was to come and divide not to unite. He was dividing those who hold Him as Lord from those who do not. Sorta puts a kink into kumbaya Christianity which is one but not the other. You figure out which is which
I posted an essay on the subject way back when but I cannot seem to find it in the FR archives.
Was that “Idols for Destruction?” One of my absolute favorites. I used that for my adult Sunday School class many many years ago at the United Marxodist Church before they kicked me out for insisting on less leftist politics and more scripture from the pulpit. The participants in the class all grew in faith and discipleship during that study and not a single one still attends there. We all now go to Christian churches of varying denominations.
Wow! Yes, it was “Idols.” I have never underlined, highlighted or marked in a book as much as I did that one. I am not surprised at what happened to you though. Many years ago a pastor in a local Methodist Church got saved. He started preaching the WORD and as if you can’t guess... a bunch of the church members did not like it. Of course, there was a remnant in that church and they all went with the pastor and loved him in his newfound love for Christ. I don’t know what ever happened but the majority of the church were trying to oust that man. Yep, like Tony Evans said, “Where does the Devil sit?” “In the first pew.”
