It’s been rumored for months and now it’s official: Piers Morgan is taking over Larry King’s 9pmET CNN slot, beginning in January.

The first report of this came from an unlikely source: Ali Velshi’s Twitter.

I doubt he is a lefty. He is very strict on everything. He was very disciplined on the Apprentice and won the show that season. I don’t see a thing lefty about him. Morgan was fired from the Mirror on 14 May 2004 after authorising the newspaper's publication of photographs allegedly showing Iraqi prisoners being abused by British Army soldiers from the Queen's Lancashire Regiment.[10] Within days the photographs were shown to be crude fakes.
