My cable provider has an “SD” transmission and an HD transmission of the networks so I can watch whichever channel works for my TV.

When I was a boy TVs didn't have this new-fangled color. Least not on our street they didn't.
But I got to sit near the set cuz my old man let me change the channels. Course we only had three until that modern UHF came along. Then we had four. Plus I got to turn the antenna (as instructed) if we started losing the picture!
sniff. That's when things were right in the world.

The OP’s outmoded, technologically deficient TV is no ones problem but his.For now at least.
I expect 16:9 will become a basic right, and sets delivered to those in need of them by government funding. Not to worry where the money is coming from since there will be a "you will never notice" fee of $2.00 tacked on to your cable bill.
The internet went through this in the 1990's, which is one reason why your cell phone basic bill is so high.

SeeBS is just as bad. The number of commercials is overwhelming. If I knew for played on the NFL Channel, I’d wait for that version with most of the interruptions to be filtered out.

I wouldn’t know because the NFL decided to black out the season opener for my team, the Bucs. Of course they’re playing the Browns and will be lucky to get 5 wins combined this year.

The only thing I find crappy about Fox right now (besides Shep and the other liberals on the FNC) is that they’re showing the Steelers game. I don’t care about the Steelers - I want to see the Browns!
