Slipknot isn't so much music, as rythmic noise. You could get the same effect in a manufacturing plant.

But, what the heck. They're well packaged and are making millions off the foolishness of youth. :-)

With the advent of IPods, I'll make my millions later, selling Gen Y (soon to be referred to as the 'hunh?' generation) hearing aids.

Smells Like Teen Spirit - because that sound has been dead and rotting for 15 years.

Welcome to old age.

We saw Plant with Alison Krauss at Mohegan Sun two or three years ago. They were fantastic.

Been waiting for this day (sorry..but the 90’s grunge/pop/soft rock) stuff was crap when it came out when I was a child/early teen and still is! Good ridance (now what about real oldies from the ‘Godlen Era’ 50-60’s..

I don't disagree with that opinion, but I also think there are some other factors. There is not as great of a gap in audio and video quality between the decades between say 1980 and today, and the 1950 - 1980. This makes older music still listenable to ears grown up with current technology.

And two, my opinion, which seems to be more vocally shared even by teenagers today, is that today's music sucks. With Youtube and mp3, they can find older music they can connect to which doesn't suck as much, but is older.

Video didn't kill the radio star, clear channel did. There is a lot of great music out there but it isn't on the radio.

Current musical obsession The Avett Brothers for instance.

There is a much wider access to older music now that is true, and I would say the changes since most of that has come out haven't created a disconnect from it. And some things are timeless. In a hundred, two hundred years, people are still going to be going through things that will allow them to connect to Blood on the Tracks. And probably still waiting on the next Dylan.

I could never get into grunge stuff when it was actually coming out. It wasn’t until college. And even then it is mostly Soundgarden.
