Good Morning! Thanks for the fresh start, Molly.
Life is crazy here. Very little time to do normal things,, like laundry or buying groceries.
Hope your husband & brother are on the mend!
Have been thinking of you as I wrap up my gardening season.
Good Morning. Company arrived yesterday to place their trailer for the golf tournament and bbq in mid October.
Both articles are well worth reading.
Neets, how is your brother today?
Yes, LB, I have been remiss. Is your husband moving around some? Does rehab start today?
That’s like many of our alum. They arrive early with their RVs, park ‘em, and then go about their business, even in other towns until Game Day.
FYI, we play South Carolina this week, and yes, it will be on ESPN. WAR EAGLE!
You are welcome to come cheer for your team.
Also, you are welcome to share thoughts and tidbits of your life, musings on whatever, and just enjoy our camaraderie such one might sitting on a back porch with good friends, solving the world’s problems.
I remember a conversation I had about a year ago with Republican chairmen from big states. When I asked them what they were doing to capture the energy of the Tea Parties, there was dead silence on the other end of the phone. Only the Texas chairman had a good answer. They, and most of the Republican congressional leaders, didn't understand the need to reach out to the independents and turn their energy into votes. It only got worse when this year's primary season began.
From the outset, the Republican establishment has chosen to fight the conservative insurgency rather than support it or even stay out of the fight until a nominee is chosen.
Fresh from its giving monetary support to Arlen Specter's campaign before he switched parties, the Republican Senatorial Campaign Committee, led by the otherwise admirable Sen. John Cornyn (R-Tex.) launched an unprecedented interference in primary races.
Off topic, but, I am about to purchase a laptop to replace my 2005 desktop that runs on Windows XP. I am thinking about getting a Toshiba from Best Buy.
I know these computers come with a lot of adware, and in the past I have been able to disable some of that using the msconfig feature and its startup tab. However, I do not know how to do this in Windows 7.
Best Buy has a setup service. Should I purchase this, or attempt this cleanup on my own?
Any advice you can give would be much appreciated!!
Isn’t Toshiba the company that back in the UOx42 era sold US government computer secrets to China thus enabling them to spy on us? I seem to recall something like that.
Hubby is doing as well as can be expected. He walks well with his walker, which he has to use for six weeks. He has no hip pain, but he is restless and can’t get comfortable in one place for very long. He can’t sleep in the bed. He goes from the couch to his recliner during the night. His head is a little fuzzy and his energy level is down, but he has a good attitude. Incision, closed with super glue, looks good.
Doc has him doing bed exercises, but full out PT will not start until 25 Oct. This doc has had great success doing it this way for quite awhile. Tendons sutured to bone have to heal first, etc., etc.
Thanks for asking!
Babbin certainly gets it!
Thanks, Bit.
That sounds like a smart doc to me. Prayers for a good recovery and that he can get some good sound deep sleep soon. Has he considered melatonin? It is a hormone which humans need to fall asleep. However, older people don’t have as much of it and that is why many of us have trouble getting to sleep.
I reall really really want Auburn to sock it to SC!!!
Certainly the country class lacks its own political vehicle -- and perhaps the coherence to establish one. In the short term at least, the country class has no alternative but to channel its political efforts through the Republican Party, which is eager for its support. But the Republican Party does not live to represent the country class. For it to do so, it would have to become principles-based, as it has not been since the mid-1860s. The few who tried to make it so the party treated as rebels: Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan. The party helped defeat Goldwater. When it failed to stop Reagan, it saddled his and subsequent Republican administrations with establishmentarians who, under the Bush family, repudiated Reagan's principles as much as they could. Barack Obama exaggerated in charging that Republicans had driven the country "into the ditch" all alone. But they had a hand in it. Few Republican voters, never mind the larger country class, have confidence that the party is on their side. Because, in the long run, the country class will not support a party as conflicted as today's Republicans, those Republican politicians who really want to represent it will either reform the party in an unmistakable manner, or start a new one as Whigs like Abraham Lincoln started the Republican Party in the 1850s.
Well, maybe I need to rethink this....
Well, we did pull out a win for you against Clemson. It was bloody but we did it. I’m hoping for the best against SC, of course. Again, though, there is nothing that is a “sure win.”
Are there any SC supporters in our coterie?
Thank you...I was thinking that the setup service would be a good idea, just hate to spend the $$$.
