“Texas defense is the difference this year. The offense is good enough, as long as the receivers don’t drop as many balls as they did Saturday...”

Texas is ranked (stats) # 1 in defense against the rush..however, they were last year as well going into the Alabama game. The Alabama running backs had 189 yards rushing in the first half.

I submit that the Texas defense has not faced, and may not face, a real offensive threat this year.

“I’m surprised we’re #4, we certainly haven’t played like a #4 team up to this point.”

Agreed...I am an SEC fan all the way, but I feel Florida is in a down year and do not derserve to be ranked that high...LSU as well is ranked too high.

I do think we should improve as the season wears on, but I have no hope of getting within a touchdown of Bama in Tuscaloosa, but if we get them in the SEC Championship Game, I think we should be more competitive by then.

This next stretch of 3 games will tell whether we are national title caliber.

We did not have a good one and one last time we played UCLA(remember Macovich’s last year was a 3-66 blowout in Austin). OU will always be tough for us but Nebraska in Lincoln is the one I dread the most.

Yeah, OU v UT is always a toss up. Could go either way. Agree on Neb, too. They’re looking very tough ... like the old days. Ags are always pesky too, but at least that one’s in Austin.

You may be right, but I bet some OU and Nebraska fans would disagree.

“You may be right, but I bet some OU and Nebraska fans would disagree.”

Nebraska had zero offense last year, but may indeed have one this year....we will see as the season progresses. OU had a 65 point per game offense two years ago until they finally played a team with a defense (Florida), and then they managed only 14 points...so, my point is this...the stats can lie according to the strength of the competition....a team can be ranked high in defense against the rush, but may play in a conference that doesn’t run the ball that much.

Undfeated Cinncinati averaged 40 points a game last year, but then played the second place SEC team in the bowl and got smacked 51-24....the level of competition for Cinncy helped them to an undefeated regular season...just as Boise and TCU will likely do this year.
