I agree and don't see what the so called secret is. I think the poster may have confused a joke by a Briton for the Montanan.

My aunt lived to 96, despite whiskey and cigarettes.

My Grandmother lived to be 101. She had a snort of snuff three times a day and a shot of brandy before bed every night! She farmed her 200+ acres of land until she was 91. She fell and broke her hip and my dad (along with my aunts and uncles) finally were able to convince her to stay on the porch - LOL!

She told us grand-kids that steak and potatoes and brandy and snuff are reasons to live as long as you can! I miss that wonderful woman! Rest in peace, Granny.

Read several articles about this guy and none were flattering. It’s normal for the media to have an extreme lack of respect.

Went to a St.Louis Cardinal game on Sunday. There was a man there celebrating his 105th. Stood up on his own two feet for the Happy Birthday song.

Tolerance? That’s his secret?

Why not? Stress eats you up, ages a person something awful.

I would think that trying to tolerate things that are despicable would age a person something awful, too.

I figure that whoever does the autopsy on me will check the box that says “ All of the above.”

If I live that long and someone asks me what my secret is for long life, my response will be “Not dying”.

For an old timer tolerance means mind your own business. Don't tell your neighbor how to live and how to keep up on his grass cutting cause it looks better when everyone cuts their grass, also lived by the old rule, that good fenses make good neighbors and the government was not in your face every day....no tv telling you the latest thing that willkill you, being fed government propoganda daily, no TV full of sex and politic's...and an 8th grade educated man knew more than todays college grads....

Nosy busy bodies in the neighbor was shunned and usually had hen pecked husbands....

His wife, Agnes, a railroad telegraph operator from Butte, died in 1957. The couple had no children.

I think I found his secret.

You messed it up.

It goes...

“I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my Uncle; not screaming in terror, like the passengers in his car.”

Nifty story. Wifey was born three miles from Melrose, MN which is in Stearns County. Several years ago the Wall Street Journal did a story on the longevity of oldsters in that county; the lifespan was much, much longer than anywhere else in the U.S.

That's all changed now, of course.....Melrose is crawling with hispanics and Somalians who work the turkey and dairy plants. We were there a couple of months ago and were shocked that this little whitebread burg is changed forever.

My GA walked down to the beach everyday with a bucket, a couple crab lines with a piece of meat tied to them, and a net.

She kept two crabs and gave the rest away.

She was born right at the tail end or just after the Civil War. She was still very much the Southern Belle.
A crab before the main course.

You can drink your bourbon before you eat the crab but never drink your bourbon with the crab or after eating the crab. It wasn't proper.
