HOUSTON -- Jerry Jones can exhale, at least for now. So can Wade Phillips.
Tony Romo threw two touchdown passes to Roy E. Williams, Marion Barber ran for another score, and the Dallas Cowboys got their first win by beating the Houston Texans 27-13 on Sunday.
The Cowboys' defense got its first three takeaways of the season and held Houston's top-ranked offense to 340 yards. DeMarcus Ware sacked Matt Schaub three times, and the Dallas secondary limited All-Pro receiver Andre Johnson to four catches for 64 yards.
Romo went 23 for 30 for 284 yards, Williams caught five passes for 117 yards and the Cowboys (1-2) finally turned in a dominant performance after starting 0-2 for the first time since 2001.

Wow, Roy showed up for a game.
Typical, Wade will do just barely enough for him to keep his job.
I’ll be the first to say it - about time! It was nice to see that Romo did not appear under so much pressure that he could not get a pass out. Maybe that was because of the defense rather than the offensive line but I at least now have some hope...
Was a good game by Williams and hope it continues but also hope that Austin gets back into the mix.
Go Raiders!!!
Time for us Cowboys fans to step away from the ledge. A couple more wins, and maybe we can make our way down from the bell tower.
You’re right there! After watching Houston clobber the Colts, I thought we were going to be 0-3 for sure. Either the Texans have come down a notch or Dallas finally stepped up. I’ll take either one at this point.
That ledge is now occupied by Texas Longhorn fans.
Seeing Michael Vick is making me physically ill.
And the Panthers lost another one, but, since they came into the NFL in 1995, they have won more playoff games than the Cowboys.
This was one of the few weeks (actually last season I don’t think there were any!) that we didn’t get a chance to watch the Cowboys game. I told my son before the games today that my going in assumption was that they lose to the Texans and are 0-3 to start — anything different (like it happened!) would be a pleasant surprise rather than agonizing disappointment like the last two weeks! My consolation prize for not being able to watch the Cowboys was to watch the NY Giants self destruct and end up with a 1-2 record as well.
It was a great game! We are going to the next Cowboy game. Can’t wait!
The one thing the Cowboys have going for them is that 9 wins should be enough to win the division.
“Wow, Roy showed up for a game.”
No, I don’t know who that was wearing his jersey but the police are frantically searching for suspects......
Yes, 9-10 wins could do it. BTW, Congrats to your Rangers on their AL West Title!
Sorry to say that you are probably right! Lots of weak folks in our division this year...
Wade gets to keep his job for now!
Hopefully the Cowboys will make it to the Superbowl this year.
