COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Some executions in the U.S. have been put on hold because of a shortage of one of the drugs used in lethal injections from coast to coast.
Several of the 35 states that rely on lethal injection are either scrambling to find sodium thiopental - an anesthetic that renders the condemned inmate unconscious - or considering using another drug. But both routes are strewn with legal or ethical roadblocks.
The shortage delayed an Oklahoma execution last month and led Kentucky's governor to postpone the signing of death warrants for two inmates. Arizona is trying to get its hands on the drug in time for its next execution...

Firing squads are NEVER in short supply.

I know people like to thrust up their chests and crow
for bullets to execute legally-sentenced prisoners.
But there's a problems with simply executing people by
shooting them.
When the Nazi Einsatzgruppen squads fanned out in Russia
and began randomly shooting Jews and others they deemed
undesirable, the soldiers began to become mentally
unstable. The soldiers began to drink to excess, use drugs
and experience emotional breakdowns. And would
you really trust someone who began to volunteer
to shoot people?

George Carlin had a bunch of ideas on one of his albums a while back: launching into a brick wall, lowering into boiling oil, etc.

ropes and bullets; that’s more than sufficient.

I was reported that Texas had an “Ample Supply”. I bet we have enough for 5-10 years. By then if they can't get the supply fixed, we will find something else.

300 cc of ethanol should do the trick.

There is no shortage of the drugs that kill them. The shortage is in an anesthetic (which has been used on me in several surgeries).
They can still kill them, they just can’t do it without causing pain or panic.
I say, do without the anesthetic, and let the audience (and the subject) enjoy/(suffer)the experience of pain and panic by the guest of honor.

There is no shortage of the drugs that kill them. The shortage is in an anesthetic (which has been used on me in several surgeries). The new method of buckshot in head fired from 10 feet makes anesthetics obsolete and reduces the costs.
