Check out the new trailer for the Coen Brothers' True Grit

Well, your wait, if you were waiting, is over.

The trailer for the Coen Brothers' TRUE GRIT has been released. Thoughts? It's a good lookin' trailer. However, that song instantly drove me insane. The whole time I was like, "When will this fade out?" Maybe something instrumental would have been better? I might be alone in this thought.

Other than that, it's really my only complaint. It also reminds me of how bad ass and manly John Wayne was. Then again, so is Jeff Bridges, who from the looks of this trailer slides comfortably into the role of Rooster Cogburn. The Coen Brothers look like they have another wonderful film on their hands...and it's a remake!

What do you guys think? To check it out in HD, head over to Apple trailers.

Official synopsis:

"Fourteen-year-old Mattie Ross's (Hailee Steinfeld) father has been shot in cold blood by the coward Tom Chaney (Josh Brolin), and she is determined to bring him to justice. Enlisting the help of a trigger-happy, drunken U.S. Marshal, Rooster Cogburn (Jeff Bridges), she sets out with him -- over his objections -- to hunt down Chaney. Her father's blood demands that she pursue the criminal into Indian territory and find him before a Texas Ranger named LeBoeuf (Matt Damon) catches him and brings him back to Texas for the murder of another man."

You said it!

Mattie was devout in her thinking and actions, yet the (kings of meaninglessness) Cohen brothers have her say "Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death. . . I shall fear no one."

Pass.

All libs especially Jeff Bridges who LOVES OBama. Lloyd Bridges was actually blacklisted for being a commie. Josh Brolin’s step mother is Streisand.

Efff this movie. Eff Hollywood and TV.

I’m still upset at what happened to Glen Campbell’s character in the original—I had such a teenage crush on him, and cried and cried! :*(

Yes, I am, although much older, so maybe “old hen” is a better analogy, LOL.;-) I was in high school when I first saw the original.

I enjoyed the sequel with John Wayne and Katherine Hepburn—I don’t think there’s an actress today that can match her spunkiness and talent if they decide to remake the sequel as well!

I LOVED that movie when I was a kid.

I can’t imagine a remake without John Wayne could compare.

Some things should be left alone - they simply cannot be improved upon. This is one of them.

Of all his movies, no doubt they would pick this one to do a remake...it's probably the most politically correct of his movies...with a very tough female character.

No way in hell they would do a remake of, say, The Cowboys....that certainly would not fit into the whole "social re-engineering" (rebuke of traditional roles of society)....going on in today's(so-called)entertainment world.

I am soooooo glad to hear that.

As for Kate Hepburn, too mannish for me, too conceited and that darned bobble-head problem she had toward the end was too distracting (though I give her credit for pushing on). She was one of those actors who always made me aware that they were aware that they were acting. Wayne was the opposite.

Matt Damon as the Texas Ranger? Gotta be better that Glen Campbell...

As a first time acting job, I thought he held his own, at least as good a performance as Kim Darby's...and a lot better than much of whats considered "talented" by today's standards.

Dern wasn’t in True Grit. Robert Duvall and Dennis Hopper were.

Almost bought the remake of "The Shining" yesterday. Might be kinda funny.
