The 89th Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (Fr-G1) on Sunday can safely be described as wide open, and an ability to act on the soft ground at Longchamp will be an advantage.
The maximum of 20 horses are entered, and the Aga Khan will once again have a strong hand to play as he owns and bred favorite Behkabad as well as Prix de Diana (Fr-G1) (French Oaks) winner Sarafina.
Behkabad has plenty to recommend him. He is trained by current champion trainer Jean-Claude Rouget at Pau and is already twice a winner at the course and Arc distance of 2,400 meters (11.93 furlongs), having won the Juddmonte Grand Prix de Paris (Fr-G1) in July and the Qatar Prix Niel (Fr-G2), which is an excellent Arc trial, on September 12.
The three-year-old Cape Cross (Ire) colt will be ridden by Christophe Lemaire who missed the whole of the Arc weekend last year after fracturing his left collarbone the Friday before the meeting. Another mishap in July led to him missing the ride in the Grand Prix de Paris but he was back on board for the Niel.

Oh yeah, and it's Sunday. Thank you Lord. (I mean that.)
HRTV showing race @ 10:15.
Wow, Goldikova just ran an awesome race.
Will be at Churchill trying for her third win in the Breeders’ Cup Mile.
Race went off earlier than the magazine reported. Almost missed it.
I think it was Workforce.
Workforce won, narrowly beating a Japanese-bred grandson of Sunday Silence.
