Its a cultural thing you wouldn’t understand.

When asked, a psycho babble expert said they give their kids these weird names because they are so poor they can't give their kids anything else so they give them a "Fancy" name. Sounds like something straight out of a "Psycho Babble 101" textbook.

When I was a kid we were so poor, they cut holes in my pockets so I would have something to play with.

Well, back in my day, when I was in school, the Negro children (when Negro was the accepted term) had regular names, such as John and Karen.

Are the strange names supposed to reflect African ethnic diversity or something?

Trig and Track Palin also have strange names. Along with Bristol and the other Palin kids. While it’s not strictly a racial thing, the strange names seem more concentrated with the black community.
