Great looking orchard! I started one a couple of years ago and I use 5 gal. buckets with a small hole drilled in the side close to the bottom for watering. It sure is convenient.

Butternut tree? Do you have pics of it you could post? I have never heard of a butternut tree.

Not sure if I have pics. I’ll check and see, and if not I’ll try to remember to take some. I still don’t have a digital, just a point and shoot that I bought 20 years ago.

It is also called white walnut. It is native to USA, and the nut tastes a lot like black walnut. It is now endangered, due to some sort of canker. So far we don’t think our tree has the disease yet.

The orchard is a dwarf orchard, but I think hubby may have planted it a little too close together, but we’ll see how it goes.
